The German airline has 202 destinations in its global portfolio spanning Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia. In partnership with other airlines, Lufthansa services more than 400 destinations around the world. Currently, Canadians are able to fly with the carrier on any of five different flights from Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver via the Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft.
There are multiple cabin classes that customers can choose from when they book flights with Lufthansa. International first class flights are offered on select Airbus and Boeing jets and feature seating that converts to a two-meter-long bed. There are also power outlets, entertainment facilities, free meals and more. Passengers have the luxury of being able to check in at special ticket counters at the airport to expedite the boarding process.
Travelers aboard Lufthansa's international business class flights can also enjoy the flat bed and seat-back televisions on their long haul. These amenities are available on the carrier's entire fleet.
International economy class customers can enjoy a 31 to 32 inches of space between seats, as well as free meals and beverages on their round the world flights. All economy seats on Lufthansa aircraft, except for the Boeing 747 fleet, are equipped with audio and video on-demand entertainment features.
European domestic business and economy class flights provides the same amenities as their international counterparts, however these services do not have in-flight entertainment.
Lufthansa offers special perks for members of its frequent-flyer program entitled Miles & More. This rewards program is shared with Australian, Adria, Croatia, LOT Polish, Luxair, Swiss International, Turkish and Brussels Airlines to provide customers a wide variety of opportunities to build and redeem their frequent-flyer miles. Members are also able to earn points with Lufthansa and Star Alliance brand credit cards.
A Miles & More member's status is based upon how many miles he or she has flown in one calendar year. Basic members have no minimum amount; while Frequent Traveller - Silver carries a minimum of 35,000 miles; Senator - Gold, 100,000 to 130,000 miles; HON Circle - Black, 600,000 miles within two calendar years. All but basic members are able to enjoy the luxury lounges that Lufthansa offers in its terminals, with more exclusive perks in the higher membership tiers.
