Turkey… Sailing, Caves and Big Cites!

February 8th, 2010 by Sarah Clark

Topdeck Tours Sales Manager and Flight Centre friend Sarah Clark trundles around Turkey taking in adventure and tantalising views of the Turkish coast and scintillating seaside towns from Bodrum to Maramaris and Fethiye to Cappadocia. Let’s join Sarah as she treats us to a vacation with a twist of Turkish delight - What an amazing country... there are very few places that you can visit that will deliver such a diverse range of experiences in one short trip. Ten days in Turkey, and although it was a little rushed and I would have loved to have spent more time in each place, I still managed to spend 4 days on a yacht, 2 days exploring caves and underground cities and 4 nights in one of the most exciting capitols of the world. First stop was the beautiful Turkish coastline where the ...

Italy’s Cinque Terre – “Five Lands”

February 1st, 2010 by Jani Burde

Flight Centre’s Jani Burden travels to Italy and visits the towns of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterrosso. Jani blogs about vacation experiences including amazing scenic hikes, stunning landscape, and local restaurants and fresh produce. Let’s turn this over to Jani – My trip to the Cinque Terre had been a dream of mine for quite some time. I headed there near the end of my driving tour of Italy in May 2009. The five towns on the north-west coast of Italy consist of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterrosso. I stayed at the most southern of all of the towns, Riomaggiore, one of the smaller towns. We had to park our rental car at the entrance to the town as only authorized vehicles such as buses and delivery trucks are permitted to enter. We decided to put the car into a ...

Bula! Doin it Fiji style on Denarau

January 29th, 2010 by Monique Baggaley

Flight Centre’s Monique Baggaley travels to Denarau, Fiji in the South Pacific and blogs about her vacation adventure. This was my first trip to the South Pacific and with such beautiful blue waters, and friendly people it will definitely not be my last! I travelled to Fiji with a friend, and right from the time we boarded the Air Pacific plane the Fijian flight crew made us feel welcome. I stayed on the man-made island of Denarau, only a 20 minute drive from the airport, and although the waters may not be as clear as the outer islands the amazing resort pools and facilities more then made up for this. We stayed at the Sheraton and the buffet breakfasts kept us going for a whole day full of activities such as: swimming, tennis, golf, sea kayaking and sailing catamarans. Although I didn’t ...

Royal Plantation Ocho Rios Jamaica – Nothing but Exceptional

January 27th, 2010 by Karen Fine

Flight Centre’s Karen Fine travels to Royal Plantation, Ocho Rios, Jamaica and blogs about her incredible vacation experience. Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios Jamaica is nothing but exceptional all the way. If you are looking for a peaceful and luxurious haven away from the hustle and bustle of life, this is your place. This resort is a smaller boutique style hotel, with gorgeous flowers and furnishings throughout the lobby and outside. The pool is small but that is only because the beach is the place to hang out; stand still for only a moment and someone will help set you up on the beach with a towel, chair and umbrella. The staff will also provide you with a small blue flag to wave when you are in need of a beverage. This hotel is all about service. I promise that nobody ...

Everything really is the best in the West…British Columbia Skiing…

January 22nd, 2010 by Ivona Siniarska

Flight Centre’s Ivona Siniarska travels to the British Columbia interior to ski Fernie, Panorama, Kicking Horse, and Revelstoke. Let’s pass it over to Ivona to tell us about her great vacation adventures. If you ask anybody on a ski hill in Ontario most will say that to ski in British Columbia is their ultimate dream, it’s like Everest for climbers. And after 14 years of skiing in Ontario, Quebec, and Northern Vermont, I was finally able to realise that dream when the BC Tourism Board invited a few lucky Flight Centre travel agents to go and experience why the west really is the best if you’re looking for world class skiing conditions in Canada. So, I got on a plane and along with 7 other Flight Centre agents, witnessed from December 9-14 what I can only ...

Tips for Flying with Kids

January 19th, 2010 by Jennifer Merrick

One of the more popular series on the Flight Centre Travel Blog has been ‘Flying and Traveling with Infants’. Guest blogger Jennifer Merrick joins us with Tips for Flying with Kids and suggests great vacation ideas including ways to wear off excess energy, relieving ear pressure during take off and landing, packing carry-ons, and (most of all) relaxing. When I had kids, I became scared of flying. I had previously always enjoyed flights. Even as the leg room shrank and services downsized or became non-existence, I still felt the thrill of lifting up into the air and landing in a new destination. I didn’t even mind the airline food. But that all changed after my son was born. On our first trip when he was 6-months old I was in a cold sweat before boarding. What if he cried the entire time? ...
