Egypt – Karnak, Sailing A Felucca and Luxor At Night

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Painted Columns of KarnakFlight Centre’s Erin Davie jumps in to continue her blog series about Egypt with more vacation and holiday ideas. In part two Erin visits Luxor, Karnak, and hops on a felucca. Take it away Erin - We arrived at the Giza train station and prepared to board for the 9 hour journey to Luxor. I have been on overnight trains in other countries and this trip was a very pleasant surprise. We were served dinner in our little room and when we finished our attendant set up our beds for us. At one point in the evening we had 7 people squeezed into one tiny room for a makeshift cocktail party. In the morning, we were woken up about 5:30am in time to watch the sun rise over the Nile. We were served ...

New Zealand – My Kiwi Experience

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

New Zealand Land of the Long White CloudFlight Centre’s Marie Fajersson travels to New Zealand and sends us the first of her two blog posts with vacation and holiday tips; Kiwi Style. So I've just returned from a whirlwind week in New Zealand (or the Land of the Long White Cloud to some). It was truly an amazing trip, life changing, and spectacular in every way. I would like to share some highlights with those of you who have been to New Zealand, are thinking of going, or are just plain curious. Buongiorno Rome!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Flight Centre’s Jennifer Simpson travels to Rome, Italy and blogs vacation and holiday ideas including touring the historical city of Roma, people watching at one of the many cafes and restaurants, and the various hotels. I just returned from Rome, Italy and it was amazing. I flew with Air Canada on one of their new aircraft with the seat back TV's and it was an incredible experience. Being able to choose from the most current movies is fantastic when you are on a long flight and it definitely makes the time go faster. Rome itself is a great city with lots of history. It's really easy to get around and the historical sites are all pretty close to each other. You can take a Hop-on Hop-off tour which can be purchased for one or ...

Egypt – the Great Pyramids, Sphinx, and Saqqara!

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Great Pyramids of EgyptFlight Centre’s Erin Davie travels to Egypt and blogs about vacation and holiday ideas. In the first part of her Egypt series, Erin arrives in Cairo and visits Saqqara, the Great Pyramids, and the Sphinx. I've seen many amazing things in my past travels, but nothing compares to experiencing the magic of Egypt.... Arriving into Cairo was an experience in itself, looking out the window of the plane and following the Nile through the small plots of fertile land on its shores. Cairo leaps out of the desert as if out of a pop-up book. The old Cairo airport makes you immediately aware that you have landed in a very different place; it's chaotic, dusty and hot. Luckily our guide from On the Go was there to explain the VISA process as there ...
