Guest Travel Blog – Tokyo Japan
May 4th, 2009 by AJ Tripp
Mention the word sushi with holiday and you have my attention! AJ Tripp from Flight Centre in Vancouver, BC returns from Japan and brings us a blog post that is chock-full of sushi, cherry blossoms, bonsai trees, and what sounds like an incredible vacation. Over to AJ –
We flew in on Japan Airlines which I have sold a million times but have not been on myself. The crew was amazing and the flight definitely went by quickly with the large selection of movies and games available.
The hotel ANA Intercontinental had a beautiful lobby and we were all impressed with it. Our first meal in Tokyo, at the hotel, was one I will never forget. There were so many different courses and each plate was more like artwork then the last. It was an experience I would definitely suggest anyone to indulge in.
The next day we woke up early for breakfast in the hotel which had a huge selection of N. American and Japanese foods. Our tour was an all day event that covered most of the city with the cherry blossoms blooming everywhere. There was greenery everywhere, which was nice to see in such a large city (12 million people). During our tour we went up the Tokyo Tower for a 360* view of the massive city. After we participated in an authentic tea ceremony set in a beautiful Japanese garden complete with a koi pond and 500 year old bonsai trees.
The highlight of the trip for me was making sushi with the rest of the group. The course was taught by a Sushi Master in his restaurant. We were able to eat the sushi after we had made it ourselves which not many people can say.
Our final night in Japan was spent in a local bar singing the evening away to songs requested by our group. There were plenty of local business men and tourists taking part in the drinking and dancing.
Overall this is one of the very best trips I have taken as there were so many fun times during this trip. We were definitely spoiled from the meals, to the tours, to the accommodation itself.
Thank you – GoGo and JAL for making this a most memorable trip!
Tokyo, Japan is highlighted on the Flight Centre map.
