Love Is In The Aria

Spring is in the air and with spring comes those feelings of love and romance. I really think Pepé Le Pew‘s eternal search for l’amour represents that je ne sais quoi or as our favourite skunk would say “Ah, my little darling, it is love at first sight, is it not, no?” and “my sweet peanut of brittle”.

At any rate, we asked the Flight Centre global consultants to come up with a couple couples locations where love is in the air and you are surrounded by sights, sounds, and smells of romance.

Venice

Set across more than 100 small islands, Venice has become one of the most famous romantic destinations in the world. Snuggle up with your special someone enjoying a gondola ride that meanders through the hundred odd canals, ducking under the several hundred bridges linking the city, taking in the magnificent architecture.  Quickly steal a kiss while standing on the famous Pone dell’Accademia (Accademia Bridge pictured above) or gaze into each others’ eyes while enjoying a candlelit dinner at one of the many historic restaurants listening to Vieni, Oh Cara. Venice has long been a favourite destination to ‘pop the question’ but if that’s not planned be careful, you could just get caught up in the romance and come home engaged.

Quebec City, Canada

Situated along the Saint Lawrence River, Quebec City is not only one of the most romantic cities in North America but also one of the oldest.

The architecture of Old Quebec City (a World Heritage Site) really gives you the feeling that you’ve stepped back in time while the Chateau Frontenac, built in the late 1800s, is the perfect backdrop for a dreamy horse and carriage ride. There is plenty to do in the winter too with The Quebec Winter Carnival and Skiing in the Laurentian Mountains. While visiting Quebec City don’t forget to visit the magnificent Montmorency Falls and the beautiful Basilica of Saint-Ann-de-Beaupre. Quebec City and its surrounding areas really are a year round travel destination for romance.

So where do you like to sneak away to with your sweetheart to rekindle those feelings of romance? We hope to recommend them in an upcoming blog post.

We’ve highlighted Old Quebec City, Canada on the Flight Centre Travel Map.

    Hey Ursula,

    Love Vermont and Quebec!

Question for you – did you mean Venise-en-Quebec? of so you really take 89 north which turns into 133 once you cross over to Quebec. Then it’s a quick jog west on route 202. Here’s a link to the route on Google Maps http://bit.ly/Ifu4L

    Cheers,

Blimey, just came across your excellent blog and then saw piece about Venice. Brought back memories of last year, my 80 year old father sailed from there and loved it immensely.

Why don't I ever get a courier job from London to Venice. Would love to go there.
