A Sense Of Travel – Sight

May 5th, 2009 by Gregg Tilston

Have you ever had an experience where you are blindfolded, led somewhere and then the reveal? Your brain excited as it quickly tries to processes all the visuals your eyes are taking in. I think sight is probably the sense most taken for granted. Flight Centre’s global consultants have recommended a couple of experiences that are visually stunning and will delight the eye; and the brain.

Delhi, India

Delhi is a perfect example of where the old meets the new. Experience the ringing bells of bicycle rickshaws, dodge the sacred cows, and enjoy a rich Mughlai curry or a wood fired pizza.

When touring Old Delhi make sure to take in the famous Red Fort, Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana; the cremation sites of Ghandi and Nehru, and the old market of Chandni Chowk. When it comes to New Delhi you should not miss the Humayun’s tomb (shown above), Qutub Minar and the modern buildings of Parliament House, the India Gate, and Connaught Place. A must-not-miss modern building is the Baha’i House of Worship, Lotus Temple.

Costa Rica

From Irazu Volcano and Crater (shown on the left) to Hatham Beach on Cocos Island National Park, Costa Rica offers a plethora of treats for your eyes. Highly recommended is taking a guided horseback tour through the mountains and into the coffee plantations. It is said this delivers one the most visually spectacular way to take in this beautiful country.

For divers Costa Rica offers an outstanding visual experience of aquatic life and underwater terrain. If you are more the hiking type Costa Rica’s national parks offer may spectacular views of nature unspoiled.

If you had to recommend one stunning view from your travels where would it be and why? It would be great to highlight it in an upcoming blog post.

Irazu Volcano and Crater is highlighted on the Flight Centre travel map.
