We Hear You!

March 24th, 2009 by Gregg Tilston

So last week we hunkered down in the Flight Centre bat-cave, scratched our heads and scratched each others’ heads. Our goal was to come up with the best focus group to help us choose the new look and feel for the redesigned Flight Centre Web site. The whole time the answer was right in front of our eyes; YOU!

We love the fact that you are a vocal crew and now we want you to scream your opinions at the top of your lungs (throat lozenges not included).

Take the survey and let us know what you think. Below are the four mockups and there’s lots of room for your comment and suggestions!

This looks cool. How about an iphone app to go with the redesign?

  • Maya

I think the first option is the most enticing and demonstrates the process of planning travel in an intuitive manner.
It would also be beneficial if it was BB, iPhone etc compliant with proper considerations for wireless device ease of use.

  • Bryn

Absolutely #4 … not cluttered … very readable … eye gets drawn to the various sections.

#2-3 attempt to have too much on the page, and everything gets lost.

#1 … less on the page but nothing is drawing me in … unclear on what to do.

    Nice idea.

    1 or 4 for me.

Wow, incredible feedback everyone – thanks and keep it coming!
Riley, an iPhone app would be pretty slick (Gregg reaches for the big list of wishes).
Maya, we hear you on the iPhone/BB considerations.
    Bryn, awesome feedback.
Travel Affiliate, thanks. We thought the idea of going public for the redesign was best way to get top-notch feedback and ideas.

Design one looks best to me. I think it looks the least ovewhelming. The others all look really cluttered. Don’t you think?

Hey all, thanks again for your continued comments and a quick update. The fruits of your input (and our mad keyboarding skills) will be realized soon. I’m sure you will like how we incorporated a number of elements and a lot of feedback. Think I’ve said too much already :) Will come back and update soon.

Have you done any research into what kind of your online consumer audience you have? Have you done any usbility or user testing based on your audience profile? I think these answers would largey influence which design would be best suited. I think these all look nice, but do they work and will people use it?

  • http://www.flightcentre.ca/blog Jason Rundell

Yes we did research our audience and usability testing has been and will be ongoing. Will people use it? We’ll find out once we launch it, tweak it, and give it some time. But we certianly hope so :)

We were waiting to release the video documentary of our process when we launched, but we felt your comment needed to be answered as best as we could. Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spz8_rpE0e0
