Travel Tip - Travel Documentation

The single most important thing to keep in mind when planning any travel is to ensure you have the proper documentation. Apart from your ticket and itinerary, many people don't realize that for most countries their passport must be valid 6 months after they return home. Mexico used to be a destination Canadians could get away with using a driver's license, but as of March 1st, passports are now required. Cuba is another popular destination for Canadians and starting May 1st now requires proof of accredited medical insurance. Visas are a further consideration for travel and required for many countries you many not have expected such as Australia, Brazil and Vietnam. Without knowing these prerequisites, travelers run the risk of being denied boarding or entry into a country and no insurance can cover you for that. Know before you go.. And have a great trip.

In a Nutshell:

  • Passport must be valid 6 months AFTER return date
  • Passport now required for travel to Mexico
  • Medical insurance now required for travel to Cuba
  • Check destination for Visa requirements
