While losing luggage may still occasionally happen - here are a few simple steps you can take to minimize the possibility of a mix up.
Try to avoid buying black or navy luggage as these are the most common.
Put distinct markings on your luggage to help identify it from the rest. Using colourful ribbon, stickers and straps can make all the difference.
Make sure you have a non-removable name and phone number tag attached both inside and outside your bag.
If you have to go through customs in between connecting flights, make sure you give yourself (and your bags) plenty of time.
If your luggage does get lost, notify the airline, tour operator or transport company right away with your bag receipt number so they can start tracing it as soon as possible. You'll need to describe your bag so if you have a camera in your phone, store a photo there for easy access. Prepare yourself and your bags before you go and don't forget to insure your belongings with travel insurance!
Happy travels.
