It is a city steeped in history, with galleries and museums abundant with priceless treasures. There are wide and gracious streets interspersed with elegant gardens, impressive monuments and public art. No trip to Paris is complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe or a stroll along the renowned Champs Elysees. Paris is also home to historic religious buildings such as Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur Basilica. The city is overflowing with antique-filled museums, yet it is also a vibrant, modern metropolis, with non-stop action and excitement.

Whether you're strolling hand-in-hand along the Seine, enjoying a glass of Beaujolais in a Parisian bistro or sharing an eclair with your sweetheart, it's easy to see why Paris is synonymous with the word 'romance'. This is the ultimate city in which to experience grand passion, providing the perfect setting for your next romantic holiday. The city is filled with cozy and intimate locations. From culinary delights to cultural sights, Paris will tempt every one of your senses. With so much to see and do in the giant 'City of Lights,' be sure to add the following experiences to your check-list

The Seine River

Nothing rekindles romance faster than a stroll along the Seine, any time of day. For the ultimate romantic indulgence, take an evening dinner cruise down the Seine River and experience the nostalgia of 20th-century French novels.

Eiffel Tower

When you think of Paris, you think of the Eiffel Tower, one of the world's most recognizable monuments. And no holiday would be complete without a visit to the top for a spectacular view of the city. Our tip: Stay long enough and you are bound to witness a couple get engaged.

Montmartre

For an artistic view of the city, climb the hill that has traditionally housed impoverish painters, potters and other penniless creatives. Montmartre is adorned with the Sacre Coeur, the most beautiful church in Paris.

The Louvre Museum

Arguably the world's most famous art museum and home to Leonardo da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa'. Established in 1793, this is a definite must-see. You can spend days in the Louvre and still not see everything. The structure itself is a work of art.

The Opera

Visit one of the grand opera houses, even if you're not particularly a fan. The grandeur and people watching opportunities of the Bastille and Garnier will provide some unique memories.

Window Shopping

Browsing the ultra-chic, ultra expensive Parisian shops on Faubourg Saint Honore, such as Hermes, Dior, La Roche, Courreges, Cardin and Saint Laurent is a decadent treat for any fashionista or lover of the fashion arts.

Notre Dame Cathedral

This may just be the most famous of all cathedrals. The gothic masterpiece is located on the Ile de la Cite, a small island in the heart of the city, and is a treasure must-see.

Moulin Rouge

Step back in time, into the era of the ultimate joie de vivre. The infamous Moulin Rouge was one of the first European cabarets, opening in 1889. It is best known as the spiritual birthplace of the modern form of the can-can dance and offers musical dance entertainment for visitors from around the world.

Arc de Triomphe

Climb the Arc de Triomphe for a good idea of the shape of the city. Be warned: you will need to cheer each other on to the top: there are about 500 winding stairs to ascend (and of course then come back down!).

Pre-Lachaise Cemetery

Although a cemetery may not evoke traditional images of a vacation, if you consider the people buried there, you will understand why this is one of Paris' most visited tourist sites. Visit the grave sites of world figures such as author Oscar Wilde, musicians Chopin, Edith Piaf and Jim Morrison, plus many more. Buy a map to help you get your bearings.
