Hands On - Accesible Travel

Flight Centre at the forefront

The Accessible Travel market in Canada has been assessed at almost 10 million people encompassing travellers with a wide variety of personal travel needs including mobility, vision, hearing and oxygen. Throw in an ever-aging population and the fact that, on average, two travelers accompany each accessible traveller, it makes sense that this is a travel genre and opportunity that a progressive travel company like Flight Centre was going to focus on both philosophically and commercially.

Flight Centre's Accessible Travel team has been extensively trained by industry professionals and accessible travellers alike. We currently undertake travel for high-profile individuals and organizations such as The Rick Hansen Foundation, SCI Solutions, BC Wheelchair Basketball, Alberta Wheelchair Sports and Para-Curling Canada.

Flight Centre is also the official travel partner for the Canadian Paralympic Committee. A portion of every travel dollar spent through the Flight Centre Accessible travel team is paid by way of sponsorship to the CPC, our cornerstone client. We have also recently signed on Sportability BC, Para Equestrian Canada and the Canadian Shooting Federation's disabled shooting program.

In 2008, Flight Centre made all of its Canadian locations more accessible by lowering the counters in all of our 167 shops across the country and a large number of our BC locations have been successfully audited for their accessibility by 2010 Legacies Now.

Our relationships with leading travel providers and in-depth understanding of airline policies for Accessible Travel combined with our knowledgeable specialists and 24 hour emergency assistance means we can ensure the best experience for all of our accessible travel clients.
