Garden tour - A seemingly endless variety of exotic plants and flowers make up the Resort's extraordinary landscape. Take the guided Garden tour or discover these tropical varieties of plants at your leisure.

Rice planting - Learning how rice is planted can be a rewarding experience. Join the farmers when they transplant sprouts from the seed bed, every Tuesday and Saturday from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. You will wear the "mor hom", a farmer's traditional costume, available from the Tennis Club and Health Club.

Thai kickboxing - Learn "Lanna Muay Thai" – the sport of northern-Thai-style kickboxing. The lessons are challenging, the workout fun and the memories are unforgettable. Also receive a Lanna Muay Thai t-shirt as a souvenir. 90-minute classes are available on Wednesday at 1:30 pm and Sunday at 10:30 am. Reservation is required and can be made at the Tennis and Health Club.

Cooking School - The cooking school introduces guests, both novice and experienced cooks, to the art of Thai cuisine. Designed by the Resort's culinary team, the programme offers guests a hands-on learning experience. Famous dishes such as kaow soi gai (Chiang Mai curry noodle soup with chicken) and gaeng hung lay (dry spiced curry with pork and pickled garlic) are just two of the specialties that are introduced in the cooking school’s weekly programme.

Designed by the award-winning Bensley Design Studios in Bangkok, the Resort's lanna-style cooking facility celebrates northern architecture and traditional design. An imposing stone staircase leads guests into the demonstration, dining and retail pavilions, which complement the Resort's distinctive design.

The demonstration pavilion, with rich timber floors, large overhead zinc exhaust fans and huge sliding glass doors, is air-conditioned. It features a large cooking area for the chef, eight individual cooking stations suitable for one or two people, and a large teak working table and chairs that can accommodate all participants. The open-air dining pavilion offers spectacular views of tree-lined mountains, extensively landscaped gardens and a waterfall, and is a perfect venue for guests to enjoy the dishes created during the class. An array of essential Asian ingredients, such as lemongrass, ginger, galangal, turmeric and garlic, are on display in the school's herb garden. Daily activities:

• The Executive Chef creates a traditional Thai menu for you to practise at home. Learn his tips and tricks as he prepares a delicious five-course meal with the freshest produce from local markets.

Rice Barn - Private Reserve at the Rice Barn - A private dining venue exclusively reserved for two for the night, the Rice Barn is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion at any time of year. Candlelight at your artfully set table, decorated with intricate flower arrangements, and soft background music enhance the atmosphere, creating a night to remember.

Culture Centre - The resorts arts and crafts village, 'Ban Sam Lang', offers highly informative exploration of the ancient Lanna culture including hands on craft demonstrations, a variety of lectures and an enlightening tour. Dedicated to the preservation of the Lanna culture each month they perform a traditional ceremony. From here they offer a variety of activities so their guests can explore the ancient Lanna culture. These include every facet of life from celebrations to rice cycles. 'Ban Sam Lang' is made up of a group of three traditional northern Thai style houses brought here from villages in the surrounding countryside.

Guests can view demonstrations of traditional rice pounding and weaving and try their hand at the crafts. Enrichment classes include 'Traditional Thai Flower Arrangement' or 'Northern Thai Dance and Music'. Guests can participate in daily rituals, such as the offering of rice to Buddhist monks on their morning alms rounds. They will also involve guests in the many other ceremonies featured throughout the year to correspond to the Lanna rice-planting and religious cycles.

Each evening you can meander through the resorts 'city' and choose a new dining experience. They offer marvellous settings inspired by the history of Lanna and cuisine that has gained both an international and highly valued local reputation.

Fujian - Styled as a 1930s Shanghai mansion and offering fine regional Chinese cuisine. The dim sum lunch is renowned throughout Chiang Mai. Set over two floors with a spacious veranda overlooking the traditional Kad Dhara Shopping Village and private dining available for 2 to 50 guests. Fujian has a rich atmosphere decorated in a prosperous style with many rare pieces from the resorts art and antiques collection. 

The cuisine also meets the finest tastes. The evening menu lists a variety of Chinese regional cooking styles from classic Cantonese to the more spicy cuisine from Sichuan province with many contemporary innovations. In keeping with the Chinese ‘family style’ meal, portions are served individually on the finest bone china. Fujian takes its name from the prosperous Chinese province which is famous for its black tea. Diners are invited to enjoy a ‘tea tasting’ during their meal, comprised of some of the best teas from Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi’s extensive tea collection.

Le Grand Lanna - Welcome to the fine experience of dining in a Lanna nobleman's home. Sit beneath rain trees on the terrace or in one of three private pavilions. The resort has created a traditional setting to showcase classic Thai and northern Lanna style cuisine. Beneath the sweep of rain trees, guests dine overlooking a mature tropical garden bursting with crested hibiscus, palms, orchids and pungent jasmine. Choose the terrace, cooled by mist-spraying fans or the air-conditioned salons decorated with art and antiques from around the region. Private dining is available for up to 30 guests. Each evening members of the cultural team give an hour long performance of music and traditional dance. Akaligo - Creating flavours from the Mediterranean each evening. Savour them on the terrace overlooking the gardens or in the cool interior. Views are across the landscaped gardens, where the hum of cicadas rise up to fill the evening. The interior is chic and cool. The imaginative chefs recreate the flavours of the sun drenched coasts of southern Europe but with some local twists. The famous Sunday Jazz Brunch embraces a sumptuous array of exotic dishes and live food stations accompanied by live Jazz.

Colonial Pool Bar - Enjoy light lunches, tropical juices and fantastic cocktails as you lounge by the beautiful blue-and-white Colonial Pool. Go for a swim; Stay for lunch. Nestled alongside the elegant Colonial Suites and the dramatic, blue-and-white-tiled, Olympic-sized swimming pool, the Colonial Pool Bar offers welcome respite from the tropical heat. Horn Bar - An ultra cool space to chill out with cocktails. Even this cool space to chill out with evening cocktails offers an element of culture. It is named for its unique horned mask collection frequently used in Thai dramas and dance. Each wall displays masks from many different regions of Myanmar. They depict mythological characters from the Demons of Dansai to Hanumaru, the heroic ape, frequently dramatized in the Thai mask dance called "Ramayana". Cool club sounds, stylish seating and an excellent mixologist are the real essence of this space.

Loy Kham Bar - Offering light snacks, fresh fruit juices and signature cocktails in a magical setting next to the cascading Infinity-edge pool. Just steps away from the Villas and Residences, Loy Kham Bar is a welcome retreat. The bar is spread over two floors in its own beautiful wooden building. Guests can enjoy alfresco dining and extensive views of the lush green rice paddies surrounding the resort, or cool off in the shady indoor seating area. Oriental Shop - A traditional tea shop located in the shopping village, Kad Dhara, serving sweet pastries and cakes, home made ice cream and fine tea and coffee. The Oriental Shop is a pretty one-storey Victorian Tea House framed by green palms, with music from whistling song birds. For anyone who enjoys quality confectionary this is a delicious treat with a menu of classic sweets and bakery items to rival any European cafe. Go Heritage - Wiang Kum Kam (WKK) was established by King Meng Rai, the King of Yo Nok, as the first Lanna capital. WKK had not lasted for long because severe flooding at the time caused the city to sink. This made WKK an underground city before the ancient Lanna Kingdom was destroyed. The preservation of the ancient city made Wiang Kum Kam into an archeological research center which formed the basis for the coming decades to study the pure Lanna culture and arts. 

After the restoration of the Kam Tom Temple at Chang Kum Temple by Sillapkorn (Art Department) the history of the “Ledgend City” and the important ancient remains came to life. Special Events - Famous stupa walkabout - If you come to Chiang Mai without visiting “Wat Jedi Liam” Paduda Stupa, it means you didn’t come! The best way to enjoy this is on the boat.
