Local Sights/Activities:
Galley Bay offers 98 suites, guestrooms and cottages situated between a bird-sanctuary lagoon and the Caribbean Sea. Beachfront rooms are in one-story West Indian-style buildings with corrugated red-steel roofs. Sea-view stone terraces with chairs and cocktail tables provide step-down access to the beach.
Arrayed near the lagoon, cottages inspired by Paul Gauguin's vision of Tahiti consist of bedrooms and bathrooms in separate whitewashed huts with conical wood-singled roofs. Thatched breezeways connect huts. Small private gardens/sundecks with lounge chairs feature plunge pools.
Rooms and cottages include terra-cotta-tile floors and rattan furniture. Both offer air conditioning as well as ceiling fans that combine with louvered walls to provide a cooling option. Mini-refrigerators are stocked daily with bottled water, soft drinks, and beer. Bathrobes furnish lounging comfort. Bathrooms include pedestal sinks and showers (no tubs).
