We meet at 9am for an orientation walk around Prague. Get ready to see the sights before delving into the Christmas markets. The afternoon is free for you to visit a museum, shop for that secret Santa present before getting ready for the Welcome party and the chance to get to know your fellow trekkers and Guides.
We depart Prague and make the short journey to Cesky Krumlov, a Bohemian jewel looking great especially at Christmas time.. We’ll do a walking tour before enjoying dinner in the old town. This is the last working day before Christmas so it’s an opportunity to celebrate with the locals tonight.
Journey east to the Austrian capital Vienna, where on arrival we’ll sample schnapps at the Schnapps museum. The Bull’s blood has a real kick. Austrians celebrate Christmas tonight so we’ll do the same. We‘ll cook the evening meal for you before experiencing Silent Night sung at midnight mass in some of the most awe-inspiring venues in the world.
Wake up to a Christmas in Vienna, a world city. This morning we wander through the 1st district sipping coffee in some of the best coffee houses in the world. In the afternoon we’ll head to the Vienna hills for our Christmas celebrations, amongst the wine growing regions with excellent locally produced food and a cosy atmosphere. This is a real highlight, eating and drinking quality food and wine which you will never forget.
We leave Vienna and head further east to the Hungarian metropolis, Budapest stopping en route in Bratislava for some winter fun. Bratislava has an amazing castle district and old town so we’ll have lunch there. We have good friends here that will make your Boxing Day a fun evening. An evening meal of goulash and some karaoke on board the Danube River night cruise.
A chance to attack the Boxing Day Sales (Cheap Eastern Europe prices!) or melt the afternoon away in the cities’ famous thermal baths (what better way to spend a cold European Winters day outside in the steaming hot waters!), it’s your day in Budapest to really get to know this magnificent town. There are caving tours, walking tours or just tour yourself around one of the east’s best cities.
We bid Budapest goodbye and head into the Polish Alps for some winter fun and revelry. Mountains, snow, skiing, horse and sleigh rides, it’s all here. The highland BBQ food is a highlight. Zakopane is set in a rural setting and our chalet will provide you all with a cosy home in the Alps.
A day to enjoy the Alps and skiing is great value here. The town of Zakopane looks fabulous at this time and the pre New Year’s atmosphere abounds throughout the huts that dot the slopes. Tonight we’ll enjoy some hot wine and goulash around an open fire..
We leave the Polish Alps as we head for one of Europe’s most stunning cities - Krakow our final stop on tour! First though we’ll tour Auschwitz before arriving into Krakow pre New Year’s ready to party in the best clubs in the East! Krakow’s old city hosts one of the most elaborate New Years parties in Europe with the huge city square playing host to live acts, DJs and fireworks! The city is world famous for its nightlife with a labyrinth of underground clubs down secret little side streets with the world’s best vodkas, pumping dancefloors full of beautiful people, a great music scene from the funky and chic to the cool and underground – the city has it all! Tonight we’ll head to Kazimierz the old quirky Jewish quarter for some live music and real good food for a bit of a warm up!
We set off on the Krakow city walk seeing all the top sights. The afternoon is set as free time in preparation for a New Years to remember. Our friends at Diva club will provide the entertainment and this is one of the best clubs in the town with a good patronage. Dance the night away until the early hours.
