Days 2-3 Copacabana
Relax on the shores of the great lake in the layback town of Copacabana, the ideal spot to grab a drink and people watch from a local cafe.

Day 4 Lake Titicaca/Puno
Cruise Lake Titicaca and visit the residents of the Uros Islands - floating towns made entirely of reeds.

Days 5-6 Cuzco
Take time to acclimatise to the soaring 3,400m altitude in scenic Cuzco. Wander the ancient cobblestone streets and peruse Spanish-colonial architecture built atop sturdy Inca stone foundations. Discover Cuzco's wealth of ruins or grab a coffee from a San Blas cafe and just chill out.

Days 7-10 Inca Trail/Quechua Community Trek
Trek through the hidden heart of the Andes following the footsteps of the Incas, high into the Cordillera Urubamba mountains. Camp beside waterfalls, traverse dramatic passes, meet friendly villagers and finish beside the Ollantaytambo Inca fortress in the Sacred Valley. There is also the option to trek the classic Inca Trail route.

Day 11 Machu Picchu/Cuzco
Spend a memorable day among the ruins of Machu Picchu. Hike up to the Sun Gate for sweeping views over the entire complex or brave the steep climb to the top of Huayna Picchu for a breathtaking vista of the ruins resting on the steep mountain below. Back in Cuzco, relax in a cafe and rest tired legs.

Day 12 Cuzco
Explore Cuzco and wander through cobblestone streets lined with massive Inca stone walls and Spanish-colonial architecture. Perhaps sign up for one of the many adventure activities on offer here including horse riding and whitewater rafting.

Days 14-15 Chivay/Colca Canyon
Travel through arid terrain where llamas, alpacas and wild vicunas graze beneath imposing snow-capped volcanoes. Gaze into the depths of Colca Canyon and perhaps spot the graceful Andean condor resting on warm air currents high above the canyon floor.

Days 16-17 Arequipa
Visit Peru's glittering 'White City' Arequipa and take the opportunity to wander around the Santa Catalina Monastery, exploring the maze-like architecture and peaceful courtyards of this huge colonial convent.

Day 18 Puerto Inca
Visit Chauchilla Cemetery, a collection of tombs and skeletons of the Nazca people - some dating from 1,000 AD. Camp overnight in Puerto Inca.

Day 19 Nazca
