Days 3-7 Amazon River Ferry/Belem
Travel down jungle rivers on a five-day ferry journey through the mighty Amazon. Spot exotic wildlife, marvel at the wild landscape and simply be captivated by the Amazon's remote, seductive vibe.
Day 8 Alcantara
Wander through the streets of quaint Alcantara and hop aboard a ferry to bubbly Sao Luis. Home to Brazilian reggae culture, fascinating historical sights and an energetic restaurant culture, Sao Luis is one of the liveliest places to visit in Brazil.
Day 9 Sao Luis
Explore Sao Luis, a town steeped in a rich history that has seen it occupied by the French, Portuguese and Danish alike. Quality museums and and a strong presence of traditional folklore are the perfect match to the French fortress of Palacio dos Leoes. But as the sun goes down this town on the Bay of San Marcos really comes to life as the heart of reggae in north-east Brazil.
Days 10-11 Barreirinhas/Lencois Maranhenses NP/Parnaiba
Take an overnight 4x4 tour into stunning Lencois Maranhenses National Park.
Day 12 Parnaiba
Venture into the Parnaiba Delta, gently gliding through the water as the lush South American wilderness lines the banks. Keep an eye out for the bright, vibrant feathers of the native birdlife and the myriad of animals that trek to the waters every day.
Days 13-15 Jericoacoara
Go 4x4 dune bashing to reach the remote paradise of Jericoacoara. Unwind on the beautiful beach and travel further north to the serene seaside town of Canoa Quebrada, where a host of water-based activities will keep the adventurous traveller entertained.
Days 16-17 Canoa Quebrada
Pay a visit to the beachside town of Canoa Quebrada, that grows in popularity year after year thanks to a stunning landscape of giant dunes and deep red cliffs, all lining a a calm, blue-green ocean. The magnificent vistas have attracted film-makers from around the country but the vibe of the town remains relaxed and inviting. Perhaps take a dune buggy ride through the captivating surroundings or be even more adventurous and try kite-surfing or cliff gliding.
Day 18 Sousa
Walk in the footsteps of prehistoric creatures in the Vale dos Dinossauros and explore the caves and rock formations of inland Brazil.
Day 19 Cabaceiras
Explore the strange rock formations of Lajedo de Pai Mateus, an astounding collection of boulders in area once inhabited by early native tribes.
Days 20-21 Olinda
Visit the monolith of Inga before soaking up the art and history of Olinda.
Day 22 Pirambu
Travel south enjoying the spectacular vistas of the rugged Brazilian coast, stopping to pitch a tent along the way.
Days 23-24 Salvador da Bahia
Discover cobbled streets and colourful buildings in historic Salvador. Brazil's original capital is world-renowned for food, music and hosting flamboyant festivals.
