Day 1: Arrive Darwin
On arrival in Darwin you will be transferred to your hotel. This afternoon join a tour
of the city. See the mixture of old and new building styles including the old
Government House and the new Northern Territory Parliament building. Drive through the
Botanic Gardens to East Point Reserve and view remnants of the World War ll defence of
Australia. Enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director.

Day 2: Katherine Gorge
Bid farewell to the Top End and head south along the Stuart Highway towards Katherine.
Stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery, a site dedicated to the World War II air raids
on Darwin. This afternoon enjoy a cruise on the placid waters of the Katherine River
through the towering cliffs of two gorges as the walls reflect the colours of the late
afternoon sun.

Day 3: Ord River Cruise
Travel via Timber Creek and Victoria River across vast cattle stations into Western
Australia. Visit historic Durack Homestead and learn about this pioneering family. Then
travel to Lake Argyle, Australia's largest man-made lake. From here we'll cruise on the
Ord River to Kununurra. This permanent water supply has formed wetland areas, which
have become havens for myriads of birds and a variety of marsupials that inhabit the
islands in the lake.

Day 4: Kununurra
See the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and Hidden Valley National Park, which features 300
million year old sandstone cliffs. This afternoon travel to Parry Lagoon Nature
Reserve. See the birdlife of this region and learn about traditional lifestyles.
Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout for sensational views of the Cambridge
Gulf. B D
Day 5: El Questro
This morning we briefly traverse the Gibb River Road on the way to El Questro Station.
Cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, a fresh waterhole fringed by tropical vegetation and
60 metre tall escarpments. You will have some free time in this serene Wilderness Park.

Day 6: Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine
Today visit the Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine, the world's largest diamond mine, which
produces one quarter of the world's diamonds annually. Continue south to the historic
town of Halls Creek. Situated on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, it is at the
doorstop to the majestic World Heritage listed Purnululu National Park.

Day 7: Geikie Gorge
This morning we'll have the opportunity to meet and talk with some local indigenous
artists. Travel to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing. Cruise through spectacular
Geikie Gorge, which has been formed by the waters of the Fitzroy River tunnelling
through the Napier Range. Watch for wildlife as the 30 metre high walls of the gorge
tower above us. Be sure to look out for crocodiles and sawfish.

Day 8: Fitzroy Crossing - Broome
Travel through the port of Derby and see the famous Boab Prison Tree, used by the first
police as an overnight holding cell. Continue to the tropical resort town and pearling
centre of Broome. See Chinatown and Streeters Jetty.

Day 9: Broome 'Free Time'
Enjoy a day at leisure exploring this tropical hideaway. You may wish to visit
magnificent Cable Beach, one of the most stunning beaches in the world, with 22km of
white sand and clear tropical water. Perhaps take a spectacular scenic flight over the
Buccaneer Archipelago or ride a camel at sunset on the beach. Or stroll through
Chinatown, home to some of the world's finest pearl showrooms. B
Day 10: Depart Broome
Your tour concludes today after breakfast. You will be transferred to Broome Airport
for your onward flight. B
