Day 1: Arrive Darwin
On arrival in Darwin you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is
at leisure. Perhaps visit one of the open-air markets held across the city every
weekend.

Day 2: Kakadu National Park
Join your local AAT Kings Driver/Guide. Travel across the Adelaide River and Marrakai
Plains, deep into Kakadu National Park. A wide selection of native wildlife has made
this region their home. View Aboriginal art at Nourlangie Rock. At Cooinda, we join a
wildlife cruise on Yellow Water Billabong. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre.

Day 3: Kakadu - Darwin
This morning view rock art at Ubirr.
Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River. We have an Aboriginal guide
with us and with the special permission of the local people, we will be able to go
ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre before returning to
Darwin.

Day 4: Darwin
Enjoy time at leisure before you join your Tour Director for a sightseeing tour of
Darwin. See Parliament House and Fannie Bay Gaol and drive through the Botanic Gardens.
Visit the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, which houses stunning
permanent collections of Aboriginal art. It is also home to a Cyclone Tracy exhibition,
which details the tragic events of the 1974 Christmas Eve cyclone that devastated
Darwin. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner with your Tour Director and fellow travelling
companions. B D
Day 5: Katherine Gorge
Bid farewell to the northern capital as we head towards Katherine. Stop at the Adelaide
River War Cemetery before we continue past the gold mining town of Pine Creek. In
Nitmiluk National Park we cruise through Katherine Gorge.

Day 6: Ord River Cruise
Travel across vast cattle stations into Western Australia. Visit the historic Durack
Homestead and learn about this pioneering family. See Lake Argyle, Australia's largest
man-made lake. Join an adventure cruise along the Ord River, from Lake Argyle to
Kununurra. This permanent water supply has formed wetland areas, which have become a
haven for myriads of birds and a variety of marsupials that inhabit the islands in the
lake.

Day 7: Kununurra
Enjoy a tour of Kununurra, one of the youngest towns in Western Australia which is the
hub of local industry for agriculture, tourism and mining in the east Kimberley. See
the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and Hidden Valley National Park, which features 300
million year old sandstone cliffs. Admire the views from Kelly's Knob Lookout. Learn
all about the sandalwood industry from soil to oil when we visit the Sandalwood Factory
at Mount Romance.
Tonight You are
invited by the Dessert family to dinner at the Hoochery Rum Distillery. Enjoy a taste
of rum and hear about life in the Ord. B D
Day 8: Parry Lagoon - Wyndham
This morning travel to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve. See the birdlife of this region and
learn about traditional lifestyles. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout. Visit
Warriu Park to see the Dreamtime Statues before arriving at El Questro Wilderness
Park.

Day 9: El Questro Wilderness Park
Enjoy a cruise along the Chamberlain Gorge. At Emma Gorge Resort there is time this
afternoon to sit by the pool or hike into Emma Gorge for a refreshing swim in the
waterhole. Your Tour Director will be able to assist you in booking any options.

Day 10: Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine
Visit the Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine, the world's largest diamond mine, which
produces one quarter of the world's diamonds annually. A local guide will join us for a
behind the scenes look at the diamond mining process. Continue to the town of Halls
Creek, situated on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert and at the doorstep of the
majestic World Heritage listed Purnululu National Park.

Day 11: Geikie Gorge
This morning we'll have the opportunity to meet and talk with some
local indigenous artists. Travel through the Kimberley to the remote township of
Fitzroy Crossing. Later, cruise along spectacular Geikie Gorge, which was formed by the
waters of the Fitzroy River tunnelling through the Napier Range. Watch for wildlife as
the 30 metre high walls of the gorge tower above us. Be sure to look out for crocodiles
and sawfish.

Day 12: Broome
Travel to the port of Derby and see the famous Boab Prison Tree, used by the first
police as an overnight holding cell, before continuing to the pearling centre of
Broome. See Chinatown and Streeters Jetty where pearling luggers unload their harvest
of oysters.

Day 13: Broome 'Free Time'
Today is at leisure to explore this tropical hideaway. Enjoy a stroll along the 22
kilometres of pristine sand and swim in the turquoise blue water of Cable Beach. Wander
through Chinatown or shop for pearls. At the end of the day sit back, relax and watch
the spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean. Or you may like to take a camel ride
along Cable Beach. B
Day 14: Depart Broome
Your tour concludes this morning after breakfast. You will be transferred to Broome
Airport for your onward flight. B
