Day 2-3 ARRIVE CAIRO
Welcome to Egypt! You are met at Cairo Airport and transferred to your hotel. Relax after your journey or spend time exploring this fascinating ancient city.
Day 3-4 CAIRO - PYRAMID EXCURSION - OVERNIGHT TRAIN
Your guided sightseeing tour starts with a visit to Memphis, the capital of the Old Kingdom. See a colossal limestone statue of Ramses II and the alabaster sphinx guarding the Temple of Ptah. Discover the Step Pyramid of Zoser I at Sakkara before venturing to Giza to see the breathtaking Pyramids and the enigmatic Sphinx. This evening, take the overnight train to Aswan.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 4-5 ASWAN - NILE CRUISE (3 nights)
Visit the impressive High Dam at Aswan and the enormous granite Unfinished Obelisk, carved directly out of bedrock. Cruise by motorboat to the Temple of Isis on the island of Philae. Later, board your luxury ship for a three night cruise up the River Nile.(Continental Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 5-6 NILE CRUISE: ASWAN - KOM-OMBO - EDFU
This morning there is the chance to join an optional excursion by air to see the temples of Abu Simbel, carved out of the rock by Ramses II and later rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Then you will sail in a felucca to Aswan’s botanical gardens on Kitchener’s Island. Later rejoin your cruise ship and continue to Kom-Ombo and on to Edfu, enjoying a fun-filled evening of Egyptian culture and cuisine.(Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 6-7 NILE CRUISE: EDFU - LUXOR
After visiting Edfu on the west bank of the Nile, you arrive in Luxor - the world’s greatest open air museum - to see the Great Temple, an unforgettable introduction to ancient Egypt. Then tour the awe-inspiring temple complex of Karnak with its vast Hypostyle Hall and avenues of sphinxes.(Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 7-8 DISEMBARK - LUXOR
Explore the Valley of the Kings, the burial place of many of the New Kingdom pharaohs, including Tutankhamun. Visit Queen Hatshepsut’s Temple and the Colossi of Memnon - two giant seated figures that are all that remains of the mortuary temple of Amon-Ofis III. Later you are transferred to your hotel in Luxor.(Breakfast)
Day 8-9 LUXOR - CAIRO (2 nights)
Spend the morning seeing the sights of your choice before flying back to Cairo. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 9-10 CAIRO - SIGHTSEEING
Today’s sightseeing highlights the Cairo Citadel, built in the 12th century to protect the city from Christian Crusaders. At the summit of the citadel, see the Alabaster Mosque, one of the city’s most important landmarks. Visit the Hanging Church of St. Mary in Old Cairo. Immerse yourself in thousands of artefacts at the famous Egyptian Museum, including the splendid treasures of Tutankhamun. Spend your final evening enjoying a leisurely meal or perhaps venture to the Sound and Light show at the Pyramids.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 10-11 CAIRO - CANADA
Say farewell to your Tour Director and traveling companions at the end of a memorable trip. Airport transfers are available, conditions apply.(Buffet Breakfast)
