WestJet Seat Selection
Economy Class passengers have two fare options to choose from, Econo and Flex. Passengers booked in either Economy Class fare can either pay in advance to select a specific seat ($5-$59) or wait to select their seat during check-in for free (open 24hrs prior to departure).
You will find extra-legroom seats, such as exit row seats, on most aircraft types that can be reserved for a fee at any time. For more information and the location of these seats, check WestJet’s seat maps.
WestJet Fare Options
For those looking for flexibility, more in-seat space and free premium onboard meal & beverage service, choose Plus (Premium Economy). With the Plus Flexible fare, seat selection made at any time is included in the fare, as well as any changes you may need to make to the ticket after purchase.
Plus Lowest offers a discounted Premium Economy experience with up-front seating and complimentary onboard service without the flexibility of free changes and cancellations.
Flex fares are the most flexible Economy Class fares and include a free checked bag! Looking for the absolute cheapest way to go? Econo seats give you just that. No bells and whistles, just the friendly WestJet service you’ve come to know and love.
Both Economy Class fares, Econo and Flex, offer meals & drinks for purchase and change fees ranging from $50 to $150, along with any fare difference. For a complete breakdown of inclusions on your fare options, visit WestJet’s fare options page.
In terms of the seats themselves, it will depend on the equipment you are travelling on. WestJet operates a fleet of Boeing and Bombardier aircraft, including Bombardier Q400 NextGen turboprops, Boeing B737 (600-800 series) and B767-300 jets.
The Bombardier Q400 NextGen turboprop is one of the quietest in the sky (the ‘Q’ stands for quiet!) and offers a single Economy Class cabin seating 78 guests with a seat pitch of 30-inches/76.2cms.
The larger Boeing B737s (variants 600-800) have a seating capacity of between 113 and 168 passengers, with a seat pitch in Economy Class of 31-33-inches and 33-36-inches in Premium Economy (Plus).
The Boeing B767-300 is WestJet’s largest plane accommodating a total of 262 guests. The seat pitch is 31-inches in Economy Class and 38-inches in Premium Economy.
