Air Transat Wins Flight Centre’s 5th Annual Sustainable Travel Award
Flight Centre Canada along with its corporate division, Corporate Traveller, is pleased to announce that Air Transat has won the company’s 5th Annual Sustainable Travel Award established to recognize the industry supplier that has made the greatest effort to minimize their environmental impact. The award was presented to them at Flight Centre’s annual black-tie Balls held in Toronto on July 6th and in Vancouver on July 7th.
Several suppliers submitted proposals which represented all areas of the travel industry including airlines, resorts, car rental companies and tour operators. Air Transat was chosen because of their demonstrated commitment combined with measurable results at every level of the business worldwide. They have shown exceptional leadership applying more than a dozen measures to reduce their carbon emissions including one of the most advanced fuel management programs in the industry, earning the first LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum award in Canada for their head office, and being named the world’s first certified green airline by the World Green Aviation Council.
In conjunction with this award, Air Transat was also recently named the World’s Best Leisure Airline at the Skytrax annual World Airline Awards and the Best Charter Arline for the fifth consecutive year at the Agents’ Choice Awards which represents the largest sampling of travel agents in Canada.
