Awed by Africa

The beauty of South Africa is enough to leave anyone, (even our outspoken Flightie Yvonne) speechless.  She shares with us the highlights of her trip along the Garden Route with On the Go Tours:

Cape Town was the most amazing place I have ever been to!  People know that I am not a quiet person but as soon as I stepped off the plane I was completely speechless.

On The Go Tours escorted me and 20 others on this trip.  Some of us arrived a day early, which gave us a chance to explore Cape Town on our own.  Our first stop was Boulder, where we saw African Penguins and Sea Lions.  From there we biked to Cape of Good Hope which is well known for the meeting points of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.  During our hike,  we had an amazing view of white sandy beaches,  encounters with Dassies and fought off my fear of heights as I sat on the ledge of one the highest cliffs of the southern point!  We took a gondola ride up Table Mountain which gave us a great view of Cape Town!

We arrived in Stellenbosch the next day which was the first stop of our tour.  We quickly pitched our tents and everyone was anxious to head to Spier.  We had the opportunity to taste some award winning wines,  pet a cheetah and visit a bird sanctuary!  Exciting stuff!  Waking up at 6 am sounds really painful but it was necessary to get back on the bus in order to get to our next destinations.  We were spoiled!  We had our own chef that created some amazing meals for us and did not have to worry about anything!  I honestly felt like a kid again having all 3 meals prepared for me.

We had so many activities planned on this tour;  shark cage diving in Gansbaai,  rolled down sand dunes in Knysna, paddled on canoes in De Hoop Nature Reserve,  friends bungee’d off the highest jump in the world in Wilderness,  zip lined on a tree top canopy tour and  walked across 3 suspension bridges in Tsisikamma National Park. We did a game drive through Addo Elephant Park and saw zebras,  elephants, warthogs, dung beetles,  blue ball monkeys, tortoise and more.  We also visited Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn and rode ostrich’s at an Ostrich Farm.

Wow, did I leave anything out? On The Go Tours made this trip an amazing experience for me and I don’t think I would have been able to do this on my own in such a short time. Leaving this beautiful city was not easy but Cape Town is definitely somewhere I would want to go there again in the near future.
