Hot air balloons over the desert, ATVs, and a new adventure around every corner – our Flightie did it all. Here she shares how her impression of Arizona was unexpectedly shaped by an unforgettable few days spent in Scottsdale:
When I heard I was going to Scottsdale, I was excited, but also slightly hesitant. I have always associated Arizona with a golfing destination and as I myself, am not a golfer, I was unsure of what this state could offer to someone like me. However, it didn’t take long after arriving, for all my hesitation to evaporate in the desert sun.
The weather in Scottsdale was beautiful and is a great excuse to spend the entire day outside soaking in the rays.
If you are an adventure seeker, Scottsdale has a variety of outdoor adventure activities to experience. I had the opportunity to try a couple of the activities offered while in Scottsdale.
Hot Air Ballooning
I have always dreamt of riding in a hot air balloon. Going up 3500 feet in the air gives you a wonderful view of the city. Although you are suspended up in the sky in a basket, it’s not scary at all! In fact, you won’t even feel the balloon take off because whether you do it in the morning or in the afternoon, you’ll be too excited and focused on capturing all of the beautiful surroundings on your camera.
For people who want a more extreme adventure, ATVing in the desert is the way to go. It’s fun, fast-paced, and exciting. If you’re lucky, your tour guide might give you the opportunity to taste fresh cactus. Just make sure to wear a hat, sunscreen, and bring some water!
Getting outside is what Scottsdale is all about. Hiking, running, canoeing, kayaking, and biking are all great ways to experience everything this state has to offer.
