The British are known for their “stiff upper lip” and for nervous flyers across the pond, adopting this cultural trait could help them get over their fear of flying.
This spring, British Airways, partnered with American Airlines, will introduce its seminar, Flying With Confidence, to nervous North Americans. For over 25 years, the training course has enjoyed an incredible 98% success rate in the United Kingdom.
A senior British Airways pilot and experienced personnel take anxious flyers through a detailed presentation followed by a 45 minute flight. On board is an expert psychologist who teaches passengers how to identify fears and promptly overcome them. Course materials for at-home review are also included, as are beverages, snacks and a light lunch.
Flying With Confidence will be held on April 27, 2013 at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport, at a cost of $499 USD. Considering its remarkable success in Britain, this initiative will no doubt help fearful flyers trade an on-board stiff drink for a stiff upper lip.
