Voted “Top Spa Resort” by readers of Conde Nast Traveler, The Sandals Royal Bahamian is considered to be the most elegant all-inclusive Caribbean resort in the Bahamas. Our Flightie Christine Gray shares her recent experience there with us and why this resort lives up to all the hype:
I had the pleasure of staying at the Sandals Bahamian for 3 amazing nights. Having never travelled to this part of the Caribbean, I was excited with the idea of trying new local meals, and checking out the beach in Nassau. The property has a newly renovated Balmoral Tower and Sandals has invested more than 17.5 Million into this project. The suites, and rooms are breathtaking; whether it’s the oversized balconies, the new modern lobby or the marble floors, you will be left in awe.
The beaches are like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Having previously travelled to places like Varadero and Negril, I’ve never seen such powder-fine sand, or crystal blue waters like the beaches I saw in Nassau. It was just incredible.
The two main pools, hot tubs, and plunge pools throughout the resort kept us busy. When we weren’t busy in the pools or the ocean, we were not far from the many bars or restaurants that Sandals had to offer. The resort was at full capacity, but you would never guess it as there was always ample room on the beach, or the pool.
The Sandals Royal Bahamian has 10 dining selections and I can safely say that I never went hungry the entire time I was there. The food at Sandals was simply fantastic! The Baccarat restaurant was lovely and a great place to get some French toast and fresh fruit to start the morning off.
If French toast isn’t your thing, maybe some fresh sliced cheese, and caviar is? This a la carte had a beautiful view to the main lobby pool. You will need to watch to see where the sun hits as the tables closest to the windows can get pretty warm, however there are many seats along the back which offer the same view (with the comfort of AC).
There were a few lunch time venues to choose from for lunch such as Spices (buffet style), Café Goombay (salad bar, and a la carte), Royal Café, Royal Napoli, or the The Cricketers Pub. I had the chance to try Royal Napoli – the pizzeria and The Cricketers Pub. I tried the hawaiian pizza at Royal Napoli, and the fish and chips at the Cricketers Pub. They were both very memorable meals.
The most memorable meal that I enjoyed at the Sandals would have been Ristorante Casanova. We had a lovely antipasto bar buffet, and I had a lovely piece of grouper fish with some fresh veggies and potato. Between the wine, company, food, beach and memories made I would give this trip a confident 2 thumbs up and a strong recommendation for any honeymooners, romantic couples get away, destination wedding, or even corporate incentive get away.
