Flight Centre launches new Suitcase Flights

Starting April 1st 2016, Flight Centre will launch a new range of ultra-cheap airfares with the release of “Suitcase Flights”. These flights combine our passion for travel with our objective to deliver Canadian customers the Widest Choice of Airfares.

Across Canada there are over 1100 Flight Centre Airfare Experts (also known as ‘Flighties’) who have a deep passion for travel. A quick survey of our staff revealed that they would be travelling to Australia, England, France, Iceland, Thailand, Costa Rica and several cities throughout Canada and the USA in April alone.

“These Suitcase Flights offer our customers the chance to travel at extremely low prices, accompanying our Flighties on their next vacation says Flight Centre Vice President of Marketing, Carre Le Page. “I’m extremely excited about this new product launch. Our vision at Flight Centre is to open up the world for those who want to see. These new Suitcase Flights are a new way to offer this to our customers, but at a fraction of the price!”

Suitcase Flights will be available for domestic travel within Canada starting on April 1. Le Page says: “Canadians aren’t used to this new form of travel so we decided to launch these flights for travel within Canada only. Prices start at just $25 for a one-way flight to most Canadian destinations which is incredible value and perfect just before summer starts.” He says that they will look to potentially expand the program to other destinations later this year.

How the ‘Suitcase Flights’ work:

  1. Customers contact Flight Centre with their desired destination within Canada.
  2. Flight Centre matches the customer with an agent heading to that destination and a Suitcase Flight is booked.
  3. Our travelling Flightie will arrange for excess baggage. The Suitcase Flight will only cost the low excess baggage fee.
  4. On the day of departure, a Suitcase Flight customer will meet our Flightie at the airport with their own suitcase. The customer then gets inside the suitcase and the agent will help you close the suitcase. We recommend you also pack some snacks and ear buds. After check-in, you’re on your way!
  5. After arrival, the agent will collect you from the baggage carousel and also help you out of the baggage. Bon Voyage!

So whether you’re flying to Nanaimo or Newfoundland, there has never been a cheaper way to see our great nation.

We’re sorry to fool you! We just wanted to have a little fun.

Suitcase Flights from $25 sounds cheap, but was never a good idea. However, we do have some amazing prices on airfares with the launch of our Worldwide Flight Sale which just started today.

Happy Travels!

This was actually a real program in Australia years ago with Qantas. You showed up to the airport with a day pack. They were called Mystery Flights and until you checked in – you didn’t know where you were going. I believe flights were $99.00 and you were only gone for the day. It was a great program!
