Travel with Pride
June is World Pride Month! At Flight Centre, we celebrate its values all year long. Find out more about our inclusive workplace diversity and how we’re celebrating Pride (you’re welcome to join!)
In honour of World Pride Month Flight Centre’s rainbow-emblazoned logo is shining loud and proud!
June is designated as World Pride Month, highlighting and celebrating LGBTQ communities around the world. This landmark month promotes and encourages equality and acceptance regardless of sexual preference, gender and social status.
Flight Centre’s culture is aligned with these values every day of the year, and we take pride specializing in LGBTQ travel.
Ours is a global commitment, based on our company’s founding values of inclusivity and egalitarianism. In Australia, where Flight Centre began, the company was a pioneer in equal hiring practices. Last year, our colleagues in Australia celebrated its a long-awaited, same-sex marriage bill. Flight Centre Australia was a driver in getting petitions signed and the legislature successfully passed.
Closer to home, Flight Centre Canada is geared up for glittering Pride festivities that will take place the last weekend in June in Toronto.
Our LGBTQ travel specialists are busy booking Toronto flights and hotels for one of the world’s biggest Pride celebrations, as well as Vancouver’s annual parade on August 4, 2019, and Montreal Pride Week, August 9 to 20, 2019.
Aaron Joshua Barroso, Senior Manager of Content & Social, says, “it’s 2019, and thankfully, we all hear about diversity. Our organization not only talks about it; we are diversity. Flight Centre embodies it, with employees representing a myriad of orientations and walks of life.”
Barroso points out that the Flight Centre guiding principle is to “Open up the world for those who want to see.” This is indicative of our collective open-mindedness and unity.
We are proud to say Flight Centre Canada regularly wins corporate culture awards; among the criteria is workplace diversity.
Speaking of awards, our own Vice-President Gavin Miller was listed on Canadian Traveller’s esteemed Top 40 Under 40, which further elevated Flight Centre’s representation and visibility in the LGBTQ communities.
But enough about our diversity! What are YOU doing to celebrate World Pride Month?
From all of us at Flight Centre who show our true colours with pride every day, we wish you some rainbow-hued fun all month long.
