In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’d like to introduce you to some amazing and inspiring Canadian women that share a common passion with us here at Flight Centre; a love for travel.
If you’re not following these ladies yet, we recommend checking out their sites (but be warned, your sense of wanderlust will grow even bigger). Without further adieu here are some women we’d like to recognize today who make us Canadians proud:
Life is so short, and I feel if we’re not learning, overcoming our fears, and living outside of our daily routines, we’re really not living to our fullest potential.
This 27 year old from Vancouver, BC is setting out to be not only the youngest Canadian female to travel to every UN nation, but also the youngest female EVER to visit every UN nation. She’ll be joining Michael and Alex from Global Degree on their quest to visit every UN nation in the world, and take off to Asia in just a few weeks.

Known as the new ‘Anthony Bourdain of Canada’, Annie is a passionate gastro-nomad who spent 5 years in Spain and launched her show ‘From Spain, with Love. She is now the host of the new food-focused show “One Night Stand” on Discovery World, but this culinary adventurer does a lot more than just eat and drink when she’s on camera. Born to French-Moroccon parents, she is fluent is 5 different languages and is one of the most kind-hearted, yet charismatic people you will ever meet. When she’s not travelling the globe in pursuit of culinary adventure, you’ll find her based in culturally rich Toronto.
Kristen is the creator and owner of Hopscotch the Globe, the leading, and award-winning website and YouTube channel for everything internationally inspired. Known as a risk-taking, adventure seeking, travel junkie, Kristen is also one of our regular Flight Centre guest bloggers who shares her travel tips with us every month. She initially spent a year travelling through 11 countries, across 4 continents and hasn’t stopped since.
Along with her love for India, Mariellen is paving the way for women to travel solo with #WeGoSolo , a hashtag that has become a movement of incredible women proving that it is in fact safe for women to travel solo and not to be afraid to do it. Her writing is both poetic and honest, and no doubt you will be whisked away in her many tales of travel and transformation.
As a lifestyle writer based in Toronto, Heather packed up not only her life, but her entire family’s life and embarked on a one year round-the-world family adventure. We helped her book her 12 month trip which consisted of visiting 6 continents and 29 countries. It’s no surprise that she was recently coined National Geographic’s Traveler of the Year Award in 2012.
Whether she’s spending a semester at sea, or exploring Europe with her grandchildren, Evelyn shares her tips and tricks for women’s excursions on her website Journeywoman.com From dining alone and still feeling secure, to handy packing tips, she shares everything female travellers need to know before embarking on their next (or first) adventure.
Throughout her career, Gariné has written, hosted, produced, and interviewed some of the hottest names in travel, bringing us original travel productions on a breadth of platforms reaching worldwide audiences. She’s interviewed Anthony Bourdain, hosted and produced web exclusives in Italy with the country’s most celebrated chef, Massimo Capra, taken us behind the scenes across Southeast Asia with the TV stars of Chefs Run Wild, and many more. To top it off, she is beautiful both inside and out, and we always look forward to seeing where in the world her next project takes her.
In 2006, Nora sold her financial planning practice in Toronto and got rid of all of her belongings for an adventure of a lifetime. Since early 2007, she’s been on the road, travelling slowly through over 30 countries and five continents.
