The 17th annual Conde Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Travel Awards were held yesterday, naming British Airways the Best Airline in both short-haul and long-haul categories.
The UK luxury travel magazine appeals to discerning travellers and is considered an authority in the travel industry. and its reader experience, knowledge and expertise lends prestige and accuracy to the awards.
The survey of 4,000 subscribers gave British Airways the top airline honour, praising its exceptional food and drink items, style, customer service and overall onboard experience.
Virgin came in second in long-haul airlines, with Emirates, Etihad and Singapore Airlines rounding out the top five. Turkish Airlines was the short-haul runner-up, with Aer Lingus, Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines in the top five.
For the fourth consecutive year, London was voted the Best City in the UK and New York City as Best Overseas Destination, with Paris second. Italy won Favourite Country to Visit and the survey awarded Bangkok’s Mandarin Oriental the Best Hotel in the World.
The US version of the awards (differentiated with the single ‘l’ in Traveler) will occur later in the year.
