Meet the Disney Expert: Courtney Weaver

Meet the Disney Expert: Courtney Weaver

Having been to Disneyland Resort over twelve times, you could say our Disney Expert Courtney Weaver knows a thing or two when it comes to planning a trip to a Disney Park. We picked her brain to find out her favourite things about visiting a Disney Park, and what tips she has for others planning a trip.

1. How many times have you visited a Disney Resort (and which ones)?

I have been to Disneyland in California twelve times now and there is always something new to experience!

2. What makes you an expert in Disney?

I would consider myself a Disney Fantatic! I have spent over 50 days at the parks. Growing up I would actually make my family Disneyland guide maps, and design schedules to ensure that we wouldn’t miss a thing. I am so lucky to have a career now that lets me share my Disney expertise/obsession with so many people and create stress-free family getaways!

3. What is your favourite attraction at a Disney Park?

My favourite ride is Space Mountain and my favourite show is Fantasmic!

4. What surprised you the most about Disney Parks?

It’s not just for the kids! I love it just as much now as an adult as I did when I was a kid.

5. What made you fall in love with Disney Parks?

The park is truly the happiest place on earth. Walt Disney actually managed to create an escape from reality where you slip into a world of imagination. The sound of the marching band when you are waiting at the gates, the smell of sweet vanilla waffle cones when you first walk down Main Street, the sense of adventure when you dodge the boulder on Indiana Jones, or the feeling of flight when you Soar over California. I love Disney because is allows us to be kids again.

6. What’s your most magical Disney Parks memory?

It has to be joining the Lion King parade when I was 7 years old. The Lion King was my absolute favourite Disney movie growing up and I watched it come alive in front of me! Rafiki pulled me up from the crowd to join and dance with all the characters to “I just can’t wait to be King!”

7. What are your top 3 Disney Parks tips that you would give a client travelling there?

Tip #1: Wake up early! It’s worth it, trust me. We all like to sleep in, but my tip is to get there for park opening. Avoid the afternoon crowds and heat, head back to the pool in the afternoon and take a nice break.

Tip #2: Splurge on a Disney Dining experience! For the princess in all of us girls, Ariel’s Disney Princess Celebration is not to be missed. For the adult visitors, The Wine Country Trattoria is just perfect for an evening date.

Tip #3: It’s not just about the rides! The shows that are included with the Park passes are absolutely incredible! The World of Color is mesmerizing, and seeing the waters come alive on the Rivers of America for Fantastmic is not to be missed!

8. Why do you think it’s important for people to visit a Disney Park?

With our busy lives today we often get so caught up with our responsibilities and commitments, that we forget what it’s like to be care-free and use our imaginations. For adults, a Disney Park allows us to find the child within us, and, for the little ones, they get to experience the magic come alive in front of them.

9. What things would you recommend someone pack for a trip to a Disney Park?

It may be old fashioned, but the fanny pack is the way to go! You don’t have to worry about storing your bag on every ride; it’s so convenient! Make sure to pack tons of sunscreen and wear good walking shoes!
