There’s magic in the unexpected. A new friendship cultivated over fresh dim sum and some funky tunes. A surprise flight in a colourful hot air balloon with someone special. A personal greeting from a graceful humpback whale and her calf.

Simply put, our newest Fare of the Month opens the door to serendipity. Discover how our Expert Travellers would make the most of multi-city flights to Amsterdam, Johannesburg, and Cape Town to create a journey of a lifetime.

Go ahead… take that famous canal picture. You can walk, bike, or hire a boat to explore Grachtengordel, the 17th-century canal ring and UNESCO World Heritage site. Amsterdam’s 165 tranquil canals are the perfect backdrop for a slow-tempo day meandering through the city.

The Netherlands has no shortage of museums! Immerse yourself in art, science, and culture with a museum hop among eclectic Amsterdam institutions. Experience the ever-evolving FOAM Photography Museum, family-friendly fun at NEMO Science Museum, an exclusive Rembrandt exhibition at the Rijksmuseum, the offbeat and peculiar Torture Museum, and, of course, the world-famous Van Gogh Museum.

To save yourself the hassle of buying individual museum tickets, opt for a Museumkaart pass, which grants you access to 41 Amsterdam museums and over 400 museums throughout the country.

If it’s your first time in Joburg, there’s nothing wrong with visiting the city’s most iconic sites. Experience beautiful and sobering explorations of South Africa’s troubled history at Apartheid Museum, Constitution Hill, and several art installations around the city honouring Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy.

For a new and unique way to spend a day in Jozi, plan a visit to the Nizamiye Complex. Built in 2012, the vast Turkish-inspired architectural phenom is a combination of mosque, school, and bazaar. A welcoming environment to people of all faiths and backgrounds, Nizamiye is open for walking tours, cooking classes, and enjoying bakery-fresh treats and savoury Turkish dining.

New On The Urbanologi Menu: Trout Tartare.

A post shared by Urbanologi (@urbanologi) on Nov 17, 2018 at 12:04am PST

The food scene in Johannesburg is out of this world, and award-winning tapas bar and restaurant, Urbanologi, is the perfect example. Located in the Mad Giant Brewery in the heart of Ferreirasdorp, Urbanologi serves up masterfully created dishes from sustainably sourced ingredients, with executive chef Jack Coetzee at the helm.

Urbanologi comes highly recommended by Expert Traveller Tyler Hawke of Cambridge. “The price point was amazing- about $27 for a solid meal and a double gin. It’s a super hip and modern joint in a great location, and I would for sure go back if I visit Joburg again.”

If the myriad international awards and a personal recommendation from Flight Centre USA’s President, Dean Smith, are any indication- you’ll have the best meal of your life at La Colombe Constantia. Expect heavenly flavours to match the sky-high views of Constantia Wine Valley and False Bay.

Omnivores and vegetarians can both indulge in culinary prodigy Chef James Gaag’s gourmand menu selections, each perfected with an exquisite wine pairing from Silvermist Wine Estate’s own spectacular organic creations.

Attention, nature lovers: this Fare of the Month has you spending your South African stay during the height of whale-watching season along the Western Cape! Push off from Cape Town or nearby Hermanus to spot southern right whales and, if you’re lucky, catch a glimpse of the majestic humpback whale. Then, a one hour drive south from Cape Town will bring you face to face with families of South African penguins who call Boulders Beach home.

Adventure a little farther south and find yourself at Cape Point, a soaring promontory worth several visits to take it all in. Grab a picnic breakfast and watch the sunrise, take a dip in Buffels Bay tidal pool, hike through Cape mountain zebra and eland territory, and enjoy some leisurely sea kayaking – just watch out for the Flying Dutchman!

Our Fare of the Month is soon departing! Make sure to book this incredible, three-city airfare by May 31, 2019. This special flight deal cannot be booked online– contact a Flight Centre travel expert, today!
