Thailand and Singapore with Topdeck Travel
Delicious food, epic beaches and scenery, and an excited group of young travellers accompanied our Travel Expert Nicole Haslam on her first Topdeck tour to Thailand and Singapore. Here she shares her experience and what she loved about her first Full Moon Party:
I travelled through beautiful Singapore and Thailand for the first time and I was immediately swept away. I was lucky enough to experience the great joys of these two countries with a Topdeck tour group. We ate, we drank, we were merry.
Our trip started in Singapore. We were introduced to Singapore’s flavours, aromas, and future food cravings in Chinatown. We tried different dishes made with fish, chicken, different kinds of curries, and then topped it all off with dessert – a sweet, creamy, delicious shaved-ice from famous dessert shop, Mei Heong Yuen Dessert.
We stayed at the V Lavender which was beautiful; it had a nice rooftop bar and pool. The room was a little small, but quaint and perfect to relax in.
Our trip leader, Kiddy, was an absolute delight to have around. He took care of us the entire time and seemed to enjoy his time with us, which made my trip just that much better. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and so much fun to be around. If you get him on your next tour, you’re in for a treat!
The next day we left Singapore behind and boarded our flights to Thailand.
As soon as I stepped off the plane, I walked out into the warm, tropical paradise known as Koh Samui.
From the airport, we arrived at the Amari Koh Samui Resort about ten minutes later. Our hotel was right on famous Chaweng Beach, had a gorgeous pool, exceptional poolside service and served more delicious food.
The location of the hotel was perfect. Beachfront, near bars, pubs, and restaurants. We had the free time to explore the area, which I did liberally. I ventured off into town in search of more street food, do some shopping, and experience the local sights. There was a lot to see and do nearby.
The next morning we took our ferry over to Koh Phangan.
We checked into the beautiful Phangan Bayshore Resort which was beachfront on Haad Rin, the iconic beach synonymous with the words Full Moon Party. The rooms directly lead outside, bungalow-style, and the hotel had an amazing pool and restaurant.
We had more free time over the next few days to explore Koh Phangan. We searched for temples and ended up at one jungle temple where from the top you could see the whole island!
On the day of the Full Moon Party, I watched the sunrise and spent the day relaxing by the pool to prepare for the full moon madness. It was an experience I’ll never forget. We began by covering ourselves in paint and warmed up for this iconic beach party with dinner on the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and drinks. We danced the night away with 30,000 other revellers, wanderers, and explorers under the white light of the full moon.
It was a night I’ll never forget.
The next morning we took our ferry back to the airport in Koh Samui to make our ways back home around the world.
This was my first tour with Topdeck and it definitely won’t be my last. I had such an amazing experience and fell in love with Asia, especially Thailand. I would definitely recommend travelling with Topdeck to anyone looking to explore the world with fellow like-minded travellers who share the same passion for adventure.
