Top 4 Things to do in Puerto Vallarta

Top 4 Things to do in Puerto Vallarta

Having just returned from a trip to sunny Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with Westjet Vacations, Melissa discovered it’s such an amazing city with great culture, friendly people and perfect weather. She’s put together her Top 4 Things to Do if you plan on visiting Puerto Vallarta this winter:

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

1. Rhythms of the Night Cruise & Dinner

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

This was one of the best nights of my life. We took an hour-long boat ride to the island of Las Caletas which is set up like an Aztec paradise complete with tiki torches and traditional dancers and drummers. We had dinner under the stars and watched a show about the history of Mexico. It was truly magical.

2. Shopping in the Flea Markets

The flea markets are a great place to find unique Mexican gift to take home for friends and family. I bought 3 hand-painted bowls with little Mexican children painted on them and whenever I look at them it reminds me of walking through the market on that sunny day. Just be prepared to bargain because they can spot a tourist from a mile away!

3. Have a Flavoured Margarita at Vista Grille

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Vista Grille is a local restaurant with an unbelieveable view of Puerto Vallarta. It’s a great spot to take photos at sunset. Their creative tequila drinks are a must-try! I asked our waiter to make me his favourite drink and it was a margarita with green apple juice, fresh mint leaves and grapefruit juice…so delicious!

4. Bailar to the Music of a Mariachi Band

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

There’s nothing more authentically Mexican than the sound of a mariachi band. You can’t go to Puerto Vallarta without putting on your dancing shoes at least once.  I remember having dinner outside by the ocean and having the smiling Mariachi men playing their guitars, singing and dancing with big smiles on their faces.

If you want an authentically Mexican holiday where you can experience both ultimate relaxation and cultural excitement, then Puerto Vallarta is the place to be!
