Saskatoon to Hamilton Flight Deals
With a beautified waterfront, a revitalized downtown core and faint memories of the now defunct polluting manufacturers, still-gritty Hamilton eases into its fresh new skin with trendy cafes, independent art galleries, down-home music venues and a multitude of hiking trails (Bruce Trail) offering sweeping green vistas and even fresh air tranquility. Once the backbone of Canada's steel and iron industry, Hamilton's skyline still features the smokestacks of its industrial past but sells itself on its burgeoning restaurant and art scene, affordability and all around present day 'cool'.
As the stud in Ontario's Golden Horseshoe, Hamilton sits perfectly between Toronto and Niagara Falls, on the south shore of Lake Ontario on the western end of the Niagara Peninsula. While it isn't known for the typical tourist attractions of bigger cities, Hamilton does have some. Football fans have the Canadian Football Hall of Fame to visit and the Royal Botanical Gardens are Canada's largest with over a thousand hectares of forest green punctuated by striking native plants and even exotic rare species. For the typical museums, galleries and defining landmarks, head 30 minutes north to Toronto or 30 minutes south to Niagara Falls.
What Hamilton does best though is that it offers a true urban experience surrounded by nature, only a few minute's drive from downtown. The farms of the nearby Greenbelt sell fruits on the side of the road and the wineries of the Niagara region beckon with wine tours. Niagara-on-the-Lake is also within easy striking distance as are a number of beaches and the turquoise waters of the Bruce Peninsula.
As the cost of living increases in and around Toronto, many, led by artists, musicians and restauranteurs have taken up residence in 'The Hammer' for its more affordable housing and commercial spaces creating a flourishing urban centre compounded and supported by the many students of McMaster University and Mohawk College. Hamilton has been a hotbed in the Canadian music scene for decades and the industry continues to thrive with a steady stream of up-and-coming bands, respectable music venues of all sizes and reputable recording studios. Farm-to-table restaurants also thrive as they feed the newcomers with the expectation of many more as the city continues to grow and transform.
