About Kelly: I have been with Flight Centre since September of 2009. I am a Certified Cruise Specialist, with a focus on Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. I caught the travel bug with my first trip to Europe with Contiki Tours in February of 2009. It was an amazing whirlwind trip to England, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, Italy and France. Venice, Amsterdam and Paris immediately became favourite cities. My second trip was a return to Paris and Amsterdam, as well a few nights in Brussels and Bruge for the first time. I also flew over to Albania for a friend's wedding.
My first cruise was with Carnival on the Valor, sailing to the Cayman Islands, Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. I never imagined cruising would be so much fun. The food was delicious, there was always something to do at night (comedians being my favourite!) and the days in port were filled with beautiful beaches, swimming with dolphins, playing with monkeys, and even caving and ziplining in Belize.
Last spring I had the chance to go to Egypt with On The Go Tours. It was definitely a trip of a lifetime! We did the King Ramses tour that visits Cairo, Giza (and the Pyramids naturally), Aswan, Luxor and Dahab. We slept on a felucca (an Egyptian sailboat) for two nights, took a balloon ride at sunrise over the Valley of the Kings, and snorkelled in the Red Sea. Everyday was an unbelievable experience. We also finished the trip off with a 3 night stopover in Barcelona. Drinking wine, eating tapas and taking in the architecture was a great way to relax before returning to regular life.
I've also been to several cities and National Parks in the United States. I spent some time in Miami before my cruise - South Beach has great shopping and nightlife! I've been to Orlando and have favourite rides at Disney and Universal Studios. This fall I toured the Southwest with Intrepid on their California Discovery trip. We spent some time in Los Angeles and Hollywood before moving on to Joshua Tree National Park, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley and Yosemite National Park. The gorgeous waterfalls and greenery of Yosemite were definitely a big change from all the deserts we saw most of the trip, but the whole week was a photographer's dream. We ended the trip we an amazing 4 nights in San Francisco. Definitely another city to add to the list of favourites. The Golden Gate bridge, the hills, and Fisherman's Wharf all reminded me of a much bigger version of Halifax. I really recommend biking over the bridge into Sausalito on the other side of the bay. You can get some amazing views of the bridge going over it, as well as when you take the ferry back. Another pretty city I spend some time in is Denver - if you are a shopper I suggest you check out the 16th street mall!
At the moment I have two trips upcoming. The first is a Christmas cruise from San Juan to St Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts and St Maarten. If you are interested in any of these islands ask me about things to do - believe me I've spent lots of time looking into it! I'm also looking forward to the extra three nights on Puerto Rico after the cruise.
In May I will be returning to Europe again to take in Amsterdam, Bruge and Paris with some friends who haven't been before, and then continuing on to new (to me) cities like Munich, Prague and Berlin.
