Our favourite places to stay: Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, The Villas at the Mirage, Bellagio, and Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Who says bachelor and bachelorette groups get to have all the fun? Vegas is a fun last-minute trip for couples, whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures, great entertainment, or just want to get lucky.

Nature lovers have plenty to do. Book a guided tour of Death Valley National Park to see Dante’s View, Badwater Basin, and more. Spend a day exploring Bryce Canyon Hoodoos and Zion National Park. Or hit up the must-sees with a kayaking tour from the Hoover Dam to Emerald Cave and a hot air balloon ride over the Grand Canyon.

For couples who are more attracted to the city than the great outdoors, we’d suggest touring Las Vegas Boulevard and Chapel Row, then eating your way through the city’s best foodie spots (Picasso, Sinatra, EDO Gastro Tapas & Wine, Twist, and Petrossian Bar to name a few). Don’t forget to grab some tickets: with Cirque du Soleil, live concerts, Drag Bunch at Senor Frogs, and BurlesQ, you can’t go wrong.

You’re never short of choice in NYC. So on a scale of first-time-trip to hidden-gems-only, where would your couple’s getaway be?

Go all-in on the New York essentials: hop on a cruise to see Lady Liberty, join a guided tour of Central Parks famous filming locations, enjoy the cityscape from the Empire State building observatory, and all that jazz.

Speaking of which, why not head to Harlem for a date night at a local jazz club? Or a laidback afternoon at High Line, a railroad track-turned-park. Then follow that up with an Urban Adventures foodie tour of Brooklyn, Chinatown, Little Italy, and Lower East Side.

Make your trip as memorable as can be by embracing the city’s endless supply of unique experiences. Think rainbow bagels, cat cafes, a Robotic Church, Edgar Allen Poe Cottage, and so very much more.

It’s extremely tempting to find a nice pair of beach loungers and spend your entire couple’s trip soaking up the Hawaiian sun. But then you’d miss out on all the fun!

Honolulu is full of things for couples to see and do, both on and off the water. If you don’t mind getting a little salt in your hair, take your sweetheart snorkelling, book a private surf lesson, join an outrigger canoe tour, and swim with a family of manta rays.

While your swimsuits are drying, visit the royal Kaniakapupu ruins, the Polynesian Cultural Centre, the Haiku Stairs, and Kualoa Ranch (which you might recognize from Jurassic Park). For the ultimate Honolulu experience, book a Jeep safari tour of Circle Island and a seat at the table at one of many local luaus.

Obviously, wineries, breweries, and distilleries are the number one reason most people visit Napa Valley. But that doesn't mean you'll have nothing else to do.

Find bonding time in between every sip. Swing your way through Napa’s best golf courses. Paddle in tandem down the Napa River. Tie up your hiking boots and explore Alston Park, Bothe Park, Lake Henessey, and Moore Creek.

And if your calendar fits, plan your getaway in September or October so you can attend a series of harvest parties to celebrate this year’s grapes.

Take in the four seasons of Aspen: Ski, Spring, Concert, Fall! Hit the slopes and the après ski scene at Aspen Gay Ski Week, scheduled for January 16-22, 2022. Or plan a tennis and yoga retreat as spring rounds the corner.

Planning a summer trip? Fill up a picnic basket with locally grown foods from Aspen Farmer’s Market. Then grab a blanket and wander over to the Benedict Music Tent or the top of Aspen Mountain for free outdoor concerts.

Aspen autumns are full of horseback riding, camping, rock climbing, and trails by bike or by foot. Not to mention harvest jazz shows at JAS Aspen Snowmass.

7. Martha's Vineyard

Martha’s Vineyard is beautiful any time of year, but it’s best experienced in the prime of summer (as the well-to-do of America can confirm).

First, the obvious pursuits: fishing, cycling, beach days and boutique shopping. Then grab your camera and tour the area’s photogenic gingerbread cottages, lighthouses, harbours, galleries, and museums.

Before the close of the season, you’ll absolutely want to set aside a day or two to explore Gay Head Cliffs, visit fluffy alpacas in Oak Bluffs, admire the works at West Tisbury’s glass blowing studio, and take a self-guided tour of the African-American Heritage Trail.

8. Phoenix

If there was ever any doubt, we can clear things up for you: no, the pictures of Phoenix don’t do it justice. Until you find yourselves hiking through Papago Park, Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak, and Kaibab National Forest, it’s impossible to know just how breathtaking the Sonoran Desert really is.

Our favourite way to experience the great outdoors is a Colors and Canyons guided tour that drives you through desert scenes to your helicopter, which you’ll board for a 45 minute flight over the Grand Canyon and the North Rim. To finish things off, you and your hiking partner for life will explore Grand Canyon  National Park at your own pace.

The city itself offers all kinds of ways to take a break from the heat. Try antiquing on Seventh Avenue, booking an olive tasting, or joining an art crawl at Roosevelt Row Arts District.

9. Los Angeles

There’s no need to wish upon a star for a fantastic trip, just book a flight to L.A.! Whether you’re horseback riding to the Hollywood sign, feeling cool at a hotel pool, chasing waterfalls in Eaton Canyon, or wandering Koreatown and Little Ethiopia, Los Angeles always manages to deliver a little extra sparkle.

Just a ferry ride from the city is Santa Catalina Island, a worthwhile destination in its own right. The tiny channel island offers luxury beach cabanas, diving tours of smuggler's shipwrecks, and plenty of hiking trails (best of all the Trans-Catalina Trail). Explore the island as you wish, using the local way of travel: bikes and golf carts.

10. Alaska

 

 

 

 

We’re not saying that a cruise is the only way to experience Alaska. Cabins, bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, lodges, resorts, and hotels abound in the 49^th state. But Alaskan cruises certainly do seem to be Canadian travellers’ favourite, as far as we can tell!

Some of our favourite Alaskan cruises are with Celebrity Cruises (especially their cruise tours), Holland America Line, Hurtigruten (with expedition ships for a closer look), Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, and Viking Cruises (included tours at every port!) to name a few.

However you decide to get there, once you’ve arrived in Alaska, you and your partner will have the time of your lives! Between hiking amongst glaciers, spotting bald eagles and sea lions, fjord kayaking, and watching the northern lights, there are few places better to experience the great outdoors.

11. Puerto Rico

Don’t forget to give yourselves plenty of time to enjoy Puerto Rico’s bioilluminescent bays, tropical rainforest, Santurce art district, and gartica cart rides through Old San Juan. 12. St Thomas, US Virgin Islands

Every spring, St. Thomas explodes with music and dancing in the island’s annual Carnival. St. Thomas’ flavour of the Caribbean tradition is full of calypso, fireworks, steel drum bands, soca, and of course masquerade parades (one that’s family-friendly and one for grown-ups).

During the rest of the year, couples come to St. Thomas for quiet getaways by the sea. Breathe in the scent of thousands of orchids in full bloom at Phantasea Botanical Gardens, sip cocktails at a beach bar, and have some fun in the water with your choice of kayaking, snorkelling, parasailing, and fishing.
