Flight Centre Canada is pleased to announce that its second annual charity trip raised $30,000 for Friends of the Asian Elephant, a program based in Chiang Mai, Thailand dedicated to improving the well-being and conservation of the Asian elephant.
Flight Centre awarded 13 employees from across Canada the opportunity to go to Thailand thanks to Cathay Pacific and Intrepid Travel who led the exclusive tour and matched all donations dollar for dollar. The purpose of the trip was to learn about responsible travel practices, specifically with respect to animal welfare while at the same time raising awareness and funds for Friends of the Asian Elephant, an organization committed to protecting and treating the Asian elephant. Each Flight Centre employee was tasked with raising a minimum $1,000. That amount matched by Intrepid’s donation raised a total of $30,000.
“Those of us that participated in the trip felt incredibly honoured to have the opportunity to learn firsthand what is involved in travelling responsibly,” said Allison Wallace, director of media and communications for Flight Centre Canada. “None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of Intrepid Travel and Cathay Pacific Airways. We are truly grateful and hope to pass on what we learned to our colleagues as well as clients so that we can do our part in ensuring that travelling responsibly is at the forefront of booking decisions.”
