No matter the choice of eateries available at your resort, you’ll want to sample these quality Punta Mita restaurants, all just a stone’s throw away from your hotel. From the area’s best tacos, brunch, and burgers & cocktail joints to critically acclaimed hot spots and secret garden fine dining, we’ve got your Punta Mita foodie musts covered.

Tacos Normas

Address: Carretera a Punta de Mita, 63732 Punta de Mita, Nayarit

You know it’s home cooking when it’s actually cooked in the chef/owner’s home, and Norma’s is just that. Open directly outside Norma’s house for dinner only, Thursday through Sunday, anyone passing within several blocks is led by the nose to this Punta Mita gem by mouthwatering wafts of pork, beef, chicken and fish tacos, all perfectly dressed on made from scratch tortillas. It would be perfect as just a street tacos place but Norma busts out some scrumptious sopes, tostadas and enchiladas, too, elevating the humble eatery to legendary status.

Naef Cafe

Address: Calle 5 de Febrero # 3, Colonia Emiliano Zapata, Punta de Mita 63738

Nestled in a discreet courtyard is Punta Mita’s premiere breakfast, brunch and ice cream spot, Naef Cafe, where freshly-squeezed juices, detox smoothies and proper coffee start days off right. For breakfast, a selection of free-range egg specialties and classic French quiches shine, while lunch features a selection of fresh salads, burritos and paninis, leaving just enough room for Naef’s hand-crafted ice creams, sorbets and over the top desserts. Vegan-friendly, too!

El Patio Sayulita

Address: Calle Gaviota 1C, Sayulita 63734

Even if you don’t have a car, it’s worth the trip to Sayulita (13km away) for El Patio’s seaside ambiance, fabulous food and some of the area’s very best cocktails. Sayulita, once a sleepy fishing village, is now a trendy beach town, yet still void of tourist resorts found further south. Once there, drop in for a drink and a meal with your feet in the sand, feasting on El Patio’s knockout ceviches, truffle fries and the region’s very best burgers. Start with the house specialty, the strawberry and passion fruit and mezcal cocktail, La Coqueta, and let the day unfold.

KALI Restaurante

Address: Otilio Montano #22 Punta de Mita, Punta de Mita 63734

*Editors note - this restaurant has unfortunately closed down

Away from the waterfront, down a quiet dirt road deep in the heart of Punta Mita is KALI, one of the area’s best fine dining establishments. The classic casa setting offers a dining room that opens to an attractive courtyard, pool and secret garden, creating the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. KALI’s food is elegant, beautifully presented and delicious, best represented in the ex-Four Seasons chef’s multi-course tasting menu. Creativity shines through in every modern Mexican dish available, culminating in puffs of cotton candy on a stick, the ‘spun sugar tree’ dessert.

Tuna Blanca

Address: Block 19 Av. Anclote Lote 5, Punta de Mita 63734

Chef extraordinaire, Thierry Blouet, strikes again, this time with one of Punta Mita’s best all-around restaurants, Tuna Blanca. Armed with a casual elegance and an incredible ocean view, the visually pleasing restaurant churns out imaginative Mexican fare inspired by classic French techniques. By the glass or bottle, begin with a selection from the well-chosen wine list. Start with the pumpkin and shrimp soup, a confit suckling pig taco or fresh tuna tostadas before diving into delectable entrees of grilled octopus, mushroom risotto and flaming mezcal shrimp. Upscale charm has a home in Tuna Blanca, Blouet’s second refined eatery in the area (Cafe de Artiste in Puerta Vallarta being the other).

Punta Mita and its surrounding area are meant to be explored and enjoyed, and our selection of quality places to eat is meant to motivate. Find out why satisfied vacationers return year after year to this delicious part of Mexico. It isn’t enough to just get a feel for the place – you need to taste it!
