In case you missed it, Flight Centre gathered your burning questions about cruise travel earlier this week on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Here’s a quick recap of your most commonly asked questions!

Is it too early to book a 2022 cruise?

It’s smart to start planning something to look forward to. 2022 cruises have great rates right now, plus extra booking flexibility (just in case). As travel restrictions lift, we can expect a decrease in availability and an increase in price. So, if you’re not early, you might already be late!
 

How can people feel safe on their first post-pandemic cruise?

This is such an important question. The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has a close relationship with health authorities, including the CDC, to make sure that cruise guests can feel confident that their health and safety are protected onboard.

New policies outlined by the Healthy Sail Panel and other cruise groups have been put in place to keep the crew, guests and local communities safe when travel opens up. Things like physical distancing, modified itineraries and heightened sanitation are a big part of that.

I want to make sure I can explore the cities the way I want. Do I have to stay with the groups when we disembark?

You’ve got options! When you book your cruise getaway with Flight Centre, it’s just as easy to choose from cruise line excursions as it is to book a third-party tour (or get some insider tips from someone’s who’s been there).

Are cruises wheelchair accessible?

Our favourite cruise line partners have taken many steps to ensure their ships are accessible for as many people as possible, including those with mobility needs, autism, visual impairments, chronic illnesses, and those who are hard of hearing.

Are cruises all-inclusive?

For the most part, cruises aren’t supposed to be one-size-fits-all. They’re designed with a lot of flexibility in your accommodations, dining and experiences (both on and off the ship), so everything’s perfect for you. Our travel consultants can help you pick a cruise with lots of inclusions, then help you tailor the rest to suit your travel style and budget. Planning your package ahead means you can enjoy the journey instead of fishing through your wallet.

With that said, we have seen a few awesome cruise lines shift to a more all-inclusive experience:

  • Holland America Line has introduced a “Have It All” premium package which includes shore excursions, drinks, specialty dining and WiFi in your fare
  • Celebrity Cruises now offers “Always Included”, which gives all guests tips, WiFi and drinks in their fare
  • Virgin Voyages has been offering “On Us” inclusives for quite some time. Every fare includes food, unlimited WiFi, tips, a basic beverage package and group fitness classes.
     

Do any cruise lines allow pets?

While cruise ships allow service animals onboard, pets are typically not allowed. There is one exception, however! The Cunard Queen Mary II is equipped with 24 kennels for dogs and cats, as well as an owner’s lounge (for transatlantic crossings only). But, Fido won’t be able to stroll the deck with you!
