The results are in!

Flight Centre Canada is a 2017 winner of Canada’s Most Admired™ Corporate Cultures.

Waterstone Human Capital, considered Canada’s leader in cultural talent management, recognizes excellence in national organizations with this annual initiative. Flight Centre Canada placed in the coveted top 10 of its category. The program runs concurrently with its Canada’s Most Admired CEO program.

Marty Parker, President and CEO of Waterstone Human Capital and Chair of Canada’s Most Admired™ Awards, said corporate culture is an “organization’s greatest asset.”

The Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) mission is To Open the World to Those Who Want to See. We love to introduce our clients to new experiences and places. It’s what drives us and where we thrive. We send our customers to explore other cultures, but it all starts with our work culture.

Flight Centre’s impressive Toronto Travel Centre.

From financial and wellness programs to tenets of egalitarianism and transparency, the way we treat our people is paramount to the company’s overall success. In business for over 25 years, you could say our recipe works — but we prefer to think of it as a dynamic framework, subject to constant improvement. As a group of globetrotters, we don’t rest on our laurels— because we don’t like to rest!

“What’s remarkable about this list of 2017 winners is their commitment to culture as a competitive advantage. They are to be admired for the diverse and impactful ways they sustain culture as a driver for growth and performance.” ~Marty Parker, Waterstone Human Capital President and CEO.

Yes, our travel agents get work-related perks. Corporate culture means more, which is what the Waterstone awards seek out as winning criteria. An organization’s culture involves an agreed set of behaviours and values by which the company is governed. All Flight Centre employees, from front-line staff to directors, are required to pass a Code of Conduct. While the test is formal in nature, Flight Centre uses a fun and engaging platform that encourages regular use by employees, with healthy competition and virtual games. This establishes an ongoing conversation and by extension, fosters communication within the company, as well as reinforces the mutually understood philosophies.

FCTG is no stranger to international travel industry awards. We say this not to brag, but with gratitude. While appreciative of accolades, an award recognizing the dynamics and infrastructure of our culture matters most to us. That’s because our people matter.

The good company (and companies!) with whom we share Waterstone’s award are:

    • Club Auto (Thornhill, ON)
    • Cority (Toronto, ON)
    • Flight Centre Travel Group (Vancouver, BC)

    • The PUR Company Inc. (Toronto, ON)
    • Rockwood Custom Homes (Calgary, AB)
    • Traction On Demand (Burnaby, BC)

It was an honour just to be nominated. But we’re happier with the win!
