In case you missed it, Flight Centre’s dedicated Group Travel Specialists answered your burning questions about group trips this week. Here’s a quick recap of the most commonly asked questions!

How far in advance should I start planning my group trip?

Great question! We usually recommend 10 months for flights and 18–24 months for tours, vacation packages and chartered air.

Our Group Travel Specialists have noticed that a lot of people are planning even further ahead these days and spots are booking up fast! So, the earlier you start the conversation with a consultant, the more options you’ll have.

How many travellers qualify for a group?

A group typically consists of 10 or more passengers for flights, and 10 or more rooms for hotels. This numbers may vary by supplier, destination or product type. Don’t hesitate to ask us if you qualify for a group booking.

Are groups eligible for flight discounts?

One benefit of booking as a group is being able to take advantage of group discounts and extra perks where available, including flights.

Each airline is a little bit different, but our Group Travel Specialists will work with our extensive supplier network to ensure that you receive the most competitive pricing.

Can I still benefit from group rates if part of my group is travelling from a different province?

There are definitely ways that we can make this work, such as booking a group block from your nearest airport and adding on connector flights from other destinations.

Typically, a group booking requires 10 adults travelling on the same routing on the same travel dates to qualify for group perks. The best thing to do is to set up a consultation with a Group Travel Consultant to chat out the details of your group and the best options available.

Are cancellation and change policies flexible for groups right now?

Absolutely! (But they’re not going to last forever). Our travel suppliers are currently offering never-before-seen flexibility including waived change fees, flexible deposit structures and longer travel credits.

That being said, we always highly recommend protecting your group trip with Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) travel insurance.

When can groups start travelling again??

We can’t say when Canada’s borders will open up or when quarantine measures will relax, but we can confirm that people are already planning their future group trips! If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding, family reunion or big friend getaway to look forward to — don’t wait. Talk to a consultant today so you don’t miss out on the best rates and availability.
