Vancouver and Edmonton residents will have a new area of Mexico to explore this winter as Calgary-based WestJet Airlines announced new service to Huatulco from Vancouver and Edmonton, as well as adding Calgary to Belize flights to bolster its winter line-up of sunny destinations from Western Canada.
But that’s not all. WestJet will also increase its service across Canada, better connecting more cities to their main hubs of Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto.
Here’s a rundown of what to expect this fall.
New Flights from Regina and Abbotsford
An extra flight per week to Puerto Vallarta from both Regina and Abbotsford for twice-weekly service.
New Flights from Edmonton
Additional flights to both domestic and sun destinations like Victoria, Abbotsford and Cancun, as well as brand new non-stop service to Huatulco, Mexico.
New Flights from Calgary
More flights to Mexico with increased service to Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas and Cancun, as well as brand new non-stop flights weekly to Belize City, Belize. Within Canada, more robust service between Calgary and Kelowna, Fort McMurray, Grand Prairie, Brandon and Kitchener.
New Flights from Toronto

Domestically, flights will be added between Toronto and Winnipeg and Kelowna, as well as significant increases on other major routes. Toronto to Ottawa will now operate 13 times daily and Toronto to Montreal, 14 times a day. WestJet will also operate the most flights between Toronto and Calgary of any airline, offering 10 flights per day. Vancouver service from Toronto will also increase with eight new weekly flights for a total of eight daily round-trip departures.
New Flights from Vancouver
Besides the new non-stop weekly service to Huatulco, Mexico, an extra flight per week will be added to Puerto Vallarta, as well as to Cancun.
In Canada, flights to Fort McMurray will increase to six times daily. Edmonton will see a total of 58 weekly WestJet flights, including nine every business day. Calgary will receive almost 100 flights per week – that’s a whopping 15 daily flights on business days (Monday to Friday) plus weekend departures! And last but not least, WestJet’s Fort St. John service will almost double from Vancouver, from seven to 12 times weekly.
Overall, WestJet will increase service to an average of 700 daily flights this fall, winter and spring, including 37 destinations in Canada, 22 in the U.S., 33 in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, along with their popular flights to the UK.
