If you’re looking for a convenient base for your San Diego adventure, Downtown San Diego offers the perfect launch pad and is home to Little Italy, the Embarcadero, and the Gaslamp Quarter. It’s also super close to Balboa Park and the world-famous zoo. For beach days, head to Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and Ocean Beach, and if you’re in the mood for little luxury and high-end experiences, look no further than Coronado and La Jolla.

It’s not only San Diego’s year-round great weather that keeps travellers coming back year after year. It’s home to some of the most beautiful beaches in America, a world famous zoo, some incredible cuisine and an endless list of things to see and do, making it an excellent vacation destination for every kind of traveller.

As a beach destination, the best (and most popular) time to visit is during the summer months (June to August) when you can spend sun-soaked days drifting from sand to sea. Be wary of a little something called ‘June gloom’ and if you’re looking for all of the fun and sun without the hectic crowds, consider travelling in September when it’s still warm but the bulk of the crowds have departed.

Eat your body weight in tacos, cheer on the San Diego Padres, get a glimpse of endangered animals at the zoo, sink a beer in a saloon in Old Town, catch a sunset from the cliff top, explore Balboa Park, visit museums, do a little bar hopping, then, when you need a little break, soak up some ‘vitamin sea’ and roll out a towel on the beach.
