Frequently asked questions

Known for its world-famous country music scene, Nashville lures flannel-clad travellers from around the globe. If you’re wondering where to stay to make the most of your Nashville vacation, the excellent news is, you’re spoilt for choice. Downtown is Nashville’s answer to Vegas and boasts many of Nashville’s main attractions, SoBro is an up-and-coming former warehouse district that is now home to many of Nashville’s big-name hotels, foodies will be drawn to Midtown, while The Gulch delivers an upscale experience.

As much as you want to don a cowboy hat and boots for your entire Nashville vacay, some things are best left to the locals. Good denim will get you by in most places and, if you’re planning on pounding the pavement and doing some sight-seeing, you’re going to want comfortable shoes. Nashville weather is also known to change quickly, so be prepared with a light rain jacket.

For the true country-music experience, the Grand Ole Opry is a must-see for any traveller, running for almost a century, it’s somewhat of a rite of passage in the south. Broadway is another must for any Nashville vacation. Sprawling several blocks, by day you can skip from the various boutiques and grab a bite, and by night, it transforms into party central where you can dance, ride a mechanical bull and belt out your best ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ at karaoke. Of course, no trip to Nashville is complete without a visit to Music Row, which is lined with record labels, radio stations and recording studios.

The general consensus is that around two to three days is enough time to see the main highlights, for those who care to dig a little deeper and really get to know the city, aim for four to five.

Generally speaking, from April to October it is warm and lively in Nashville. Late spring, summer or early fall are perfect for sightseeing while country-music devotees can’t miss the world-famous CMA Fest in June.

Hold on to your cowboy hats, there’s so much to see, do and devour, you’ll struggle to fit it all in! You could easily spend your entire vacation eating, drinking and perfecting your line dancing (no judgement), but there’s another side to Nashville too – there’s a zoo, plenty of museums (music and otherwise) and natural landscapes including Warner Parks that beg to be explored. If you’re up for a slightly creepy experience, check out the abandoned Tennessee State Prison, while the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is another prerequisite for all travellers, even if you’re not super into country music. Nashville also has a full-scale replica of the Parthenon.
